Buoyancy aids
As its that time of year when things arrive unexpectedly wrapped in crinkly paper and we utter the words, "Oh, that's just what I wanted," or something similar. I currently use a Typhoon buoyancy aid which needs replacing, I think I'd like to try something else and so I am here to get the ...

Re: Wanted Magnum 8 or later
Sadly for me, health reasons prevent me attempting to sail the classic Finn that is in my garden, a Solo is my upper safe limit for sailing and dragging out of the water. I think a lightweight Moth, of an old wide design or even a scow, could be fun to build and sail. I would happily travel to any e...

Re: Wanted Magnum 8 or later
I quite fancy the idea of returning to my youth and building another Moth, so as I read this, provided I build an old design I could come out to play. I'm guessing that the original boats are all heavily restored or totally rebuilt so it will still be in keeping if the design date is in keeping and ...

Re: Non slip on varnish?
Further to the above, Heskins don't seem to want to send samples out anymore. Probably because they sent the samples to me as a parcel and paid the parcel rate, I trimmed those down to envelope size and I have forwarded them to paulmidd on here so if you'd like to have a look ask Paul for the two sa...

Re: Mainsheet traveler and track wanted
Sounds good to me but I can't remember either, there is no rush as my boat is not at home yet as I need to make space for her but if I know it is coming I will stop looking.

Thanks Nessa, you beat me to that one. If it is available I would like it.

Mainsheet traveler and track wanted
For my winter refit I am looking for a centre mainsheet traveler and about two feet of track for my Solo. I keep looking at the dreaded ebay but nothing nice seems to come up. Quite willing to pay a realistic price for a nice one but can't justify a new one. Anyone got one to sell?

Re: 1962 Wooden Racing Dinghy
I think you have an Albacore from your description of the sail emblem. Try this link to confirm the size of the boat (it might not have the correct sails) http://www.cvrda.org/wp-cvrda/dinghydata/albacore/ Value will depend on the condition of the hull, what equipment it comes with in terms of sails...

Re: New dagger board.
I think your easiest option may be to use a dagger board from something like a Laser if it could be made to fit. If you want to make one, I'm guessing at the size, but a board from something like an Enterprise or GP14 could be cut down and reshaped. I've bought two laminated timber boards recently o...

Re: FOR SALE DOBSONS INTERNATIONAL EUROPA MOTH
Absolutely lovely!
If only I was still the size I was forty years ago. Just dreaming but tell me that I'm not too big at 6'4" and 90kgs?
The link at the bottom to all three works without you having to set up an account.

Re: Non slip on varnish?
A bit of research later I found this - http://www.heskins.com/aqua-safe and though I had to pay for a large roll it has been a boon. Not really noticeable from a short distance it is non abrasive but securely non slip and doesn't spoil the look of the wood at all. Thank you Graham, for pointing me ...

Re: Non slip on varnish?
I've never actually tried it, but I've wondered about waiting until the varnish is about 80% cured and rolling on pieces of peel ply... I once accidentally dropped some peel ply onto varnish in that stats and it seemed to me to give a very neat textured surface. That sounds like a nice idea, I'll t...

Non slip on varnish?
I have a very pretty varnished Solo but it is like a skating rink, I've tried different shoes but that makes no real improvement. I don't like the sand, or similar, in the varnish option but I would live with the stick on foam type on the floor stiffeners if it works and doesn't hold the water and r...
