Classic Boat Insurance

I recently tried to insure a classic International 14 and my usual insurer (Noble Marine), quoted me over £200 p/a, based, I think, on the International 14 being a very fast, aggressively raced, slither of carbon fibre. I explained that mine was rather different (wood, bronze centerplate etc) and th...

Re: Roll up, roll up, buy an entire museum collection

My apologies, as I was not really clear earlier, but it was the state of the boats in the polly tunnel rather than the tunnel itself which caused dismay. Non of this was the fault of the landlord, just upsetting to see so many beautiful, but badly neglected boats, and very happy that at least some o...

Another drum winch needed

I guess there may be a few of these requests going out now, so I had better add mine to the list. I have retrieved I 14 #85 from Lowestoft and in general the boat looks good, but the drum winch for the centerpalete is aluminium and does not appear from marks on the hull to be the original one, which...

Re: Roll up, roll up, buy an entire museum collection

All, Happy to report that Ben Her (Int 14 #85) has been successfully retrieved from the top rack and is now in North Norfolk awaiting restoration, which I hope will be done by this time next year, with thanks to Dronskiuk for his assistance in taking photo's when I was not able to make the pre-sale ...

Bleaching wooden hull

Hello, I have a clinker Broads Half-Decker that I have just scraped the varnish off, its from 1946 and made of pitch pine on oak ribs. I would prefer to re-varnish rather than paint it, but the boat has been neglected for a few years by the previous owner so there are quite a few dark areas where th...

Re: Small single handed gunter rigged dinghy

The Foil has been moved into my shed for working on, and it does not appear to have a bowsprit or jib, given the limited size of the hull it perhaps make more sense for it to be rigged as a mono-sail single hander anyway. Will not be much heavier than an Optimist and with a larger sail should go qui...

Re: masts and booms

Chris,

My current boom is 115 but i think I could get by with 110 inches, how much would you want for the center sheeting one and where are you in the country?

Re: masts and booms

Hi Chris,

Could you tell me the length of the alloy booms, I could use a newer one.

Re: Small single handed gunter rigged dinghy

Yes it would appear to be a Foil, never heard of that class so a new one to me, it was rescued by a friend from a shed in Norwich so I'll pass the information on. He intends to restore it and get it back on the water, so any other photos of rigged up working examples would be helpful.....thanks.

Small single handed gunter rigged dinghy

International 12 foot dinghy

Hello, Could anybody help me with tips on finding an old International 12 foot Dinghy, there does not seem to see many for sale in this country although there apparently used to be a few fleets here. Plenty in Holland and Italy but they seem to be rather expensive, mostly because they are still bein...
