Re: The Best Of…The Wingnut Award

JPA I believe won the wingnut at Whitefriars in 2012? In the Skua, possibly for capsizing a keelboat? Garry was a close runner up for his Rocket, maybe disintegrating? There was a write up all those years ago.

Re: Bosham classics

2/3 digit numbers were used to discourage trying to translate them, as quite frankly, it works very poorly. Granulation of numbers is, from my experience, a far smaller issue than what kit boats are using and how hard people are willing to push modernised boats compared to originals. As these permut...

Re: Bosham classics

You mention lack of quality, David. This the boats or the helming skills? Either way, I'm glad whoever thinks that doesn't bother coming along if they are so blinkered.

I was working, but I know the change of date did for 3 Minisail entries.

Re: Bowmoor event

Anyone know if I can drop my boat+trailer this weekend? If someone could contact me ASAP on my mobile. 0032 499 123 672 Dean If you discover you cannot, then you are welcome to leave them at Whitefriars. However, they have tons of boat park space, so I doubt it will be a problem. Their website has ...

Lovely! By far the prettiest of the small plywood boats of the era. And since, really.

Not a Merlin sail, that's for sure, or daring.

Banbury National Rally

Just been looking at the calendar. Any info on Banbury yet?

Banbury not too far from Bowmoor, so maybe makes a good double for people travelling from further afield?

Re: Bowmoor event

Possibly 1, 2 or 3 of us there, with campervan and maybe a pup tent. Certainly a Minisail coming along, maybe other boats, possibly even the Puffin if she hasn't fallen apart again.

I may be unobservant, but I can't see Bowmoor on the event drop-down menu?

I'm with Keith on this one, use something that will squeeze as the planks swell, if you have to use anything at all.

Re: Capsize aid.

I can capsize without aid. As a help for self rescue, were I a rich man, I suspect I would be tempted. As it is, I think I may follow young JPA's advice on the hosepipe.

Re: Calling Firefly Experts

The insides work for a MK1 Firefly, with the built in tanks and dozens of very tired looking screw heads. The stern bag covers tie in with the MK2 deck look in terms of vintage. I suspect the number is telling the truth, but for some reason I have a nagging feeling there is something slightly later ...
