I would look at some additional straps for the big hatch at the back (and at the front?). They have been known to pop off in a capsize.

suggest you play the percentages. as long as it is a date that does not clash with much other stuff (regattas, Mothers Day, Fathers Day, World Cup etc.) enough of us will make it for it to be a success.

Wow, figures look impressive. but..... they seem to be quoting research on the fin "tubercules" (i.e the whale fin) rather than testing the "Turbocle" rudder's performance directly I cannot see why increasing the surface area would reduce straight ahead drag but someone with you...

Marine grade aluminium sheet offcuts seem pretty cheap on eBay I would have a go at making them.
The trickiest bit is probably the rivets - they obviously do not protrude on the inside
