Yes, Roger Holman's Jollyboat....
he has come up to Roadford before now, although I am tempted by the concept of taking the Jollyboat down to Torpoint and sailing it there.
Just finding it hard to sort things out at the moment...
Yes, Roadford is 'up' for me too...

Re: Tube bailers
i have had a few over the years, but nearly always just thrown them out.....damned useless things, till you crunch them pulling the boat out and then they become bloody stupid 'leaking' or 'jammed' useless things... But I did find one at the w/end. Most probably leaks....and is one of the skinny sma...

Re: Good Mastic for clinker seams
Ha! There is no such thing as a Good Mastic for clinker seams.... But if you must, then I agree with the general concept of going towards something soft rather than too hard. I thnk I would agree with evomastic. Does depend a bit on how big the gaps are you want to seal. I once had an old boat build...

Re: Finn Needlespar Mast repairable????
Sounds like you have got things sussed...
but I would certainly try to find a good specialised aluminium welder. Welding has really changed recently and with new TIG kit and specific filler-rods, it is possible to reliably weld stuff that would of been totally impossible in the past.

Re: Good cotton sails free to a good home
I think I have a set as well...
If I can ever find them again....
but as I start sorting out the chaos of my boat stuff, I will have quite a few things that need new homes, so will post.

Re: Wooden mast repair
Reckon those cracks have been there for ages....
I am sure I remember them from when I had the mast. Like you, I wasn't too worried as they were running with the grain and just varnished over them.
Most probably about time they were looked at though.

Re: who was looking for a 'period' c/plate winch?
Gosh, I have still got mine....
and promised I would get it to somone, but can't remember who it was.
If anyone is interested, the offer is still there.
And will be moving on a lot of classic dinghy stuff over the next two-three months.
Best wishes

Re: Xmas greetings and next projects
I do intend to do a bit of work on my 1971 Slurp IC, including some modifications to the seat and stiffening up the mast. Also want to make up some new covers for the Firefly and other boats.... but overall my general feeling is: https://memegenerator.net/img/instances/500x/52236305/sell-sell-sell-s...

Re: 2-Part Polyurethane Paints
Jotun rocks.
Although I have not used their two-pack top coat, I have used tons of the epoxy primers. White, Silver and clear and their varnishes: Ravilak and Spontan. All worked really well for me.

Re: Approach to bailer sealing
Regarding fixing the hole: My feelings are that the best plan is to try and remove as much rotten wood as possible. Wood hardener can work, but only really hardens a small layer of external wood. Due to the whole point of bailers, they are at the bottom of the boat and are in an area of continual w...
