Skol Moth 'The Hopple'

After many years of lots and LOTS of fun, it now seems time to move on. Meg has decided she prefers to sail our British Moth, the rest of us are all to big / stiff / sensible to sail The Hopple properly any more. We still enjoy a blast in her though, and if you have a good sense of humour you should...

Re: N12

If you could get the sail no then identification from the N12 owners section on their website is easy - they are all listed. I'd beware the 'light restoration' tag - she looks very dry and somehow the floor looks very tired - and discoloured wood around the centreboard case. But - could be OK! Don't...

Re: Any idea..?

Well - Cut down enterprise main, Mirror rudder stock and blade, possibly mirror CB also - I think its a home design one-off.

Re: Old International 14 Dinghy

Charlie is now a hulking 16 year old and we are thinking of a trapeze doublehander. Anyone know what vintage of 14 GRP became common? I remember a GRP Kirby design sailing at Tamesis in the early 80s, but everything else was wood. Now - Charlie is the perfect size for trapezing a fireball, and you ...

You have done a good job on that there! Looks nice.

Somehow I must tempt Tom (our N12's owner) to bring Spider to a meeting.

Re: It's not an Enterprise... but what is it??

Osprey - Mk 1 (stern tank) and therefore nicer IMHO... Clearly needs total re-decking and therefore one might expect much more trouble below..

Re: Single Hander

I have a british moth that is not getting any sailing at present. Needs stripping, a bit of filling, and revarnishing. Nice boats to sail and easy to move about being so light. Mine is with launch trolley, no road trailer, good mast and sail.

Re: 420 no. 3

AFAIK first few hundred were very basic no trapeze, no spinnaker, and transom sheeted. All built by Lanaverre. Here is a link to a french blog where someone has discovered one of the early boats. Even this one is late enough to have centre main sheet. The tanks have mouldings for the traveler to be ...

Just regular exterior gloss paint will do an excellent job as you should only be worrying about occasional wetness, and there will be zero UV damage.

Re: Hello, Newbie here with an Enterprise :)

She does look VERY lovely! Just a small suggestion - as the Ent is deck stepped, I would suggest that you consider replacing the forestay tail with some non stretch rope, or with a bottle screw. Otherwise you can get a scary amount of mast movement in a seaway and . or strong wind. Enjoy your sailing!
