Re: Merlin Rocket wanted
3) 4) arrange a mechanism for pulling the pole vang on once the crew has engaged the pole. With the long poles it is normal to leave some slack in the pole vang (The bit with the ring on attached to the sheet) that is then taken up by the helmsman after crew has put the pole on. Re: Help! Don't know what boat to go for?
I must admit the idea of sea cruising in a wayfarer does intrigue me, wouldnt mind trying it one day.
Ive never been to lundy, sailed past and raced around it in my Swansea days but never been ashore. The pubs supposed to be good.

Re: Rule changes for better or worse
Rather then the classes and there rules, surely its the modern world and technology that risks doing damage to a class? In most classes, as far as I'm aware, the GRP boats are generally quicker than those of a wooden design. Even in classes where there is a minimum weight the advantages in competeti...

Re: Blithfield event 2013
Hi there, I wrote to Ben Marshall who does the dates for the classic merlins so they do know. Sadly for Steve (Crook, our Int 12 man) it is the same weekend as west kirby but I'm hopeful of spending time at both locations! but Luke, if it is at all possible, I'd want to sail there in the smokers......

Re: Merlin Rocket wanted
Then pop along to a merlin club, take some photos of someone's poles and copy them. The way a carbon pole is fitted out will work just as well on an ally pole. Just remember the measured length of 2300mm (Long poles) or 6 foot includes the end fittings. Some people with old boats are using 2 metre ...

So at least the club is safe for now and surely has even more time to drum up support.
Re: Insurance
The insurance I have on Sledgehammer covers every form of racing at UK national events and also applies to 30day trips into Europe. Think they called it gold. Think I may use the same for both this time as individual still seems cheaper that a combined. Also the comparrison website seem more expensi...

Re: Rule changes for better or worse
How many classes has this happened to?
Other classes must change rules and be fine. The Merlins would have to
Be a good example of this I would think? Especially as the class
is growing still (more boats ordered last year than previous few)

Re: Merlin Rocket wanted
Congratulations and welcome the fleet. You should consider some of the meets if you can make them, both CVRDA and Merlin meetings are a joy to sail and great fun off the water. Are you after a modern or classic pole? Posting on the MROA forum could be an idea. May find another single and convert the...
