Re: Question for the low rider Mothists.
TimD, sorry for missing this post, it must have moved down the list quickly. I have played around with various tubes for Moth wings and come to the conclusion that it really depends on what you have available and how it can be constructed eg do you have the capability to bend it or weld it? Most 70'...

Re: Int Moth (Imperium scow) mast wanted
Woops, must have been quite a crash! As you say, most moth masts are a lot shorter from step to boom due to the higher foredeck. I suggest you have a look for something like a Solo mast, as being keel stepped there will be plenty of length to cut down. Needlespars are not favoured by the Solo fleet ...

Re: MOTHS AT ROADFORD
Hi Nessa,
We can have a saw ready, will soon make it measure
Do you still have room on trailer for that moth mast (and was there a boom left over?)
Thanks
Lyndon

Re: Tiller length?
Yes, a longer tiller would give you more leverage, but should it be necessary? I think I would be looking at the whole rudder assembly for reasons why the steering is so heavy. Any weather helm and your efforts to counteract it, (heaving the tiller towards you) will seriously slow the boat down as i...

Re: MOTHS AT ROADFORD
Hi Alan, Yes, been booked up for months. Looking forward to showing you the way round again  Hoping to bring Dyneema Dave and Stuart with me from Greensforge, Sam may have to sit this one out. A sneaky Imperium Scow? is this the new secret weapon for "falling off the magnum" conditio...

Re: Pierre Marique's "Europa" vs Alois Roland's "Europe"
Certainly, the Europa I had many years ago was fitted with a centreboard, but I could't say for certain that they all did. I converted mine to a daggerboard and sailed it in the early days of the UK Europe fleet. The hull shape was nearly correct to Europe shape, except for the front end around the ...

Re: Classic/ Lowrider Moth training at Oxford SC
Its not likely to take off due to the wings, not at legal towing speeds anyway  I have towed and roof-racked all sorts of Moths with and without wings. Only find it a problem when towing with a classic car like my MGB because the wings are a lot wider than the car. Most modern cars are pretty ...

News from the Greensforge moth fleet - Colin now has a usable man shed and is working hard to get the orange Skol patched up in time for Oxford.
May not be pretty, but its a start!

Re: Seabat / Beachcomber dinghy help
Thanks Nigel, The owner said it was 13ft because he had measured it after being asked by another sailing club. Interesting you mention additional fittings for a gooseneck, as one of his concerns was rusting jubilee clips around the mast. I wonder if that was some attempt at a gooseneck. We will see ...

Re: Seabat / Beachcomber dinghy help
odd isn't it?, you don't see one for years, then the market is flooded with them!
I was going to ask how rare it might be?
The ebay one looks like plywood, our friend's is GRP with a larger, topper sized cockpit.

Seabat / Beachcomber dinghy help
We have had a couple of Go Boating open days at Greensforge over the last weekends, so quite a few new recruits for membership and beginners sailing courses. One of our visitors was asking if we could help him set up a Seabat dinghy. He has never assembled it and is concerned about where the ropes g...
