Collier 13 ft Sailing Dinghy

Never heard of one of these. Anything to do with one Mark Collier of this parish?

French Moth

Came across this ad whilst browsing Leboncoin. Almost a national pastime here although I have recently sold my mk3 Gull and a kayak through it. To my non Moth eyes this boat appears to be old and quite unlike anything I can recall seeing in the Uk. It comes with a wooden mast and boom. I must stress...

Re: Mast carrying on vans

Oh Michael, that's no way at all to treat a type 2 !!. That lump was far far too heavy for it. Poor thing. I'm surprised you had any braking power at all let alone getting "warm". Drums rear, discs front ( face lift model this one) and no servo assistance folks. Anticipation becomes second ...

Re: Mast carrying on vans

When I used to have a type 2 bay window VW camper and used to trail an OK to CVRDA and opens. I sourced some universal commercial roof bars that fitted. I put the mast on the roof. It did over hang at the rear but as the OK was on the back this was not a danger to other road users. The pop top roof ...

Re: National 12 1107

Hello Dave. Perhaps she's worth the effort. There is plenty of deck space on the ferries at this time of year. From your end the Newhaven to Dieppe would be a good one I think. Certainly cheaper than the Brittany Ferries routes, I've found. At the weekend I'm travelling up to Derbyshire from the sou...

Re: Big Brother's collection....going under the hammer...

I recall you had a white Austin A30 or A35 some years ago? I must confess to having a small modest collection of "velo vintage" in the garage alongside the OK and the Gull. Thirteen in all and yes, I do ride them all regularly although not at the same time. I ride at least one everyday. Th...

National 12 1107

Hello All.

Came across this in a moment of idleness. To my non N12 eyes it seems very original indeed. Strong money through?

Re: Metal Boom for a Gull

Thank you Jim.That's worth knowing. The present boom is wood so I've nothing to go by. The only surplus masts I've got around the place are off the OK.

Metal Boom for a Gull

Hello All.

Does anybody by chance have a spare metal boom for a Gull , ideally a Proctor ?.

I will be over in the UK next month at some stage so can collect then. Reasonable distance from Hampshire.

Please PM me here with details and price wanted.

Fireflys in Bosnia

Whilst I was in Bosnia last month I came across Fireflys. Not the CVRDA type though. I was cycling at twilight along a river valley. The road/track and the surrounding fields and woods which were covered with tiny pins of light moving around. It was quite dark with no back ground light pollution at ...

Re: Job ad - Wooden Boat Builder, Norfolk

I certainly do not have the required skills but even if I did, I could see a work /life balance issue here. Putting a 50hr six day week in during the summer could seriously impact on one's sailing!!.
Yet another bank holiday today here in France today, by the way

Re: Capsize aid.

Yes Rupert. I thought they were a bit pricey too The only boat in my small fleet to sport a righting line is the Dart ,of course. No stirrup on the end but, taking advise from those who know far more than I, I've put knots in it at regular intervals down it's length (it's long). These have been a gr...

Capsize aid.

Hello All. When I sailed at CVRDA events (happy days indeed) there were a few older, less nimble crews who obviously did not relish the thought of a capsize. There has been some chat on the Gull forum about this and someone has found John Claridge in Lymington stocking something that may prove usefu...

Re: Gull get together at Bowmoor SC

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED.

The Bowmoor club member and fixer could not attend due to personal commitments that cropped up at the last min. As nobody else wanted to take up the baton and there were only a small number of people and boats expected, it was decided to cancel. Great shame.
