This premier dinghy week is from 5th Aug to 11 Aug. See our website http://www.sailbrightlingsea.com I will be sailing a vintage dinghy and it would be nice if there were more! For those of you who didn't make the CVRDA in May you have another chance to sail in this fine tidal estuary. Those that di...

Use epoxy, Charles. As one wag said to me about my wooden mast "compression is going to snap it anyway so why worry about whats holding the two sides together!". Oh he of little faith. Will you be towing her over to Wroxham? I will be there for the Saturday with Cygnet.

Now I think Team Brightlingsea is Tidewaying. However if the bag is humming then it will be resting on the roof or at the bottom of one of the boats.

Glad you enjoyed our humble little club! We will be delighted to host you all and more next year. I am sorry to say, Alan, I will be in Italy during the Frensham thrash so cannot bring your bag. It might have to go Red Star or TNT or something like. If its ponging then the carriers may refuse to car...

Just not worth it. I have just broken up a Merlin for its hardware. As I started sawing it up I had a brief prick of concience but as my foot went through and the self bailers fell out almost by gravity I accelerated the saw! The met at the town dump were impressed by the kit I handed to them and th...

A pal of mine has got a 16' 6" plastic dayboat with a cuddy. She has what looks like a 4 blade prop as a sail insignia.

Any ideas what she is?

I think it was at a Waddington air show that I saw a mock scramble exercise for a Lightning. They sent it up on afterburners on a verticle climb to interceptor ceiling which was about 40,000 ft in a matter of seconds. It had an airtime of only a few minutes before it would rapidly descend! The noise...

I come from Lincolnshire where the Vulcan was quite something else! Friends of my parents lived in an isolated farmhouse in the north of the county which was selected as a "target" for low level bombing runs. It was quite exciting seeing these monsters of the air gently swoop down and bank...

Oi fink 'e mean joo-al as they say at the Frinton and Walton Yacht Club. Interesting to note that F&WYC are trying to get their dispersed Jewels back to the club as a fleet. I found one in a boat scrapyard a couple of years back which I put a pal of mine onto and she is now I believe on the wate...

Pat, I did a survey on a pub in North Essex yesterday and noted a Lark hull (all plastic) in the rear garden (I searched to outbuildings but couldn't fine the rest of it). The new publican was muttering about it becoming a raised flower bed. Shame. I think it might be free to a good or not so good h...
