This Merlin is consistantly listed as a Proctor Mk. XII in my year books. Certanly very unusual to see red sails - maker?

Re: Merlin Rocket, Sail number 1390 - Does anyone remember h
The Mk. XII was designed by Ian Procter essentially for inland water sailing. It was not as powerful as the Mk.XI and had more rounded bilges to give less wetted area. It was a quick tacking boat and this design won the "light weather" champs in 1964. The design has seen a revival with vin...

Re: Is this an Uffa King?
Definitely not an Uffa King - the transom is too flared out - probably too few planks and the overall beam looks too great.
As Chris says - cannot see enough of boat.

Sail proofing
I have an old but perfectly serviceable Dacron mainsail, however it has lost its crispsness and no longer "sheds" water. I was considering applying canvas waterproofing solution as I am sure it would take this up. Has anybody else tried this or does anybody have any other suggestions to ma...

Re: merlin rocket free for a good home
Prospective owners need to check with Martin as advertised as 408 "Sprig of Shillelagh" a Holt Riant on MORA site. Sprig was owned by Pat Blake and won the Vintage Wing in 1997, 2002, 2003 & 2004. I do not think it is 207!

Re: classic merlin
Sorry Nessa, just had proper look at close up of foredeck and clearly need a good pair of specs. - it is a metal plate! However I say in my defence the foredeck spinnaker container was common on Merlins of this vintage.

Re: classic merlin
Nessa - it is a hole in foredeck with rope basket to hold spinnaker. These were the days when it was flown inside the forestay.

788 was at Ranelagh SC at one time and is in fact the original "Premiere". "Pass in Wind" is a new name.

Re: Jollyboat wanted
Very doubtful if Chris "Rocket" was one - all Rockets had narrow Nat 12 style sidedecks and not a swivelling mast. The description is definitely a Merlin.

Re: FLYING FIFTEEN
Your nearest club with a large fleet of 15's is Grafham Water. Middle Nene SC at Thrapston also has a fleet of 15's many of which are classic.
