Re: moth Still Wanted?

Hi Mike, and welcome to the forum. Congratulations on your purchase, I can confirm that you have a Magnum 7 there. The number is correct for a 7 and the hull shape, particularly the rockered keel line is spot on. I know because i have one and so does Miles. Yours included, we now have 50% of the Mag...

Re: Seamark Nunn Ok deck removal

Most GRP hulls of that era were 2 or more mouldings joined up with a bit of sealant and screws. With the age of the sealant now, they don't put up much of a fight to seperate as long as you have found all the fixings and work carefully around to open up the gap with a wide chisel or scraper. A bit o...

Re: c'mon then... whatisit?

My money is on Streaker...... not that i would spend any on this particular example! Double chined. Angled side deck in cockpit between deck and tank sides. Joints in deck panels where Jack Holt kits were layed out. (and its converting itself back to kit form) 2 - piece mast which was a feature of t...

Re: moths and noodles

Well done! See, you didn't need the stabilisers after all  Actually, its much more difficult in v light airs but you look to have found a good stable position in the boat there, from which it will be easier to react to changes. Less (jumping about) is more where Moths are concerned. Keep up th...

Ex-Minty Green, but still Mystery Moth afloat again

Congratulations to Dave, a lovely restoration of his Mystery Moth. Re-launched on sunday after a long winter of stripping and sanding. Underneath all those layers of paint he found a beauty!

Re: The skoll has arrived

Thanks Max, that was the link i was trying to copy with the garden pictures. Someone else had asked me about the Merlin for sale at the same time, hence finger trouble! I hadn't noticed that Skol advert in the 69 yearbook, explaining the "Regate" version with centreboard. (thats the orange...

Re: The skoll has arrived

Stu,

I think all we know about it was here:

viewtopic.php?f=8&t=5837

unless you can find a sail number on the hull or Martin W can find the name in the old records?

Anyway, try and get one of your boats ready for Hunts!

Re: Trailer bearings maintenance

Keith, Are these hubs using Tapered Roller bearings or plain Ball Bearings? Tapered bearings oppose each other in a cone formation so overtightening would cause them to lock up. They should be nipped up, then backed off a little to allow clearance for heat expansion. Plain ball bearings are not real...
