Re: Mercury Dinghy 87 ?

I can still recall the wiff of wood becoming charcoal, when a Mirror, avec le derrière wrotten, likewise a Streaker and Phantom, had a burn up, all of which donated many parts to other more fortunate wooden craft, a Russian Firefly Copy now Lithuanian sports Butterfly's old sails, and Butterfly is i...

Re: Off topic 'what is that?'

The earlier Sports Six engine came out of the pre Michelloti styled 2000' Vanguard Vignale Six, sleeved down to 1600 cc. I was sorely tempted to buy a nice example of one off EBay, however the plastic fantastic, SS1 was a third of the Buy it now price anyway. Pardon me RN as the Americans would say...

Re: Off topic 'what is that?'

Yep RN but that pic I did was done well before TG. I had the more powerful Vitesse 2 Litre, basically the same body as Captain Slow's Triumph, not his Triumph t'was a near disaster, but the Triumph car. http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z454/gav110/019_zpsd7a4220b.jpg (and much later a Triumph Spitf...

Re: Off topic 'what is that?'

Talking Classics I think the cars and boats go hand in hand, for instance my Viva HB is a year younger than my Minisail Sprit Just bought me a quirky little sports car called Reliant Scimitar SS1, not a Del Boy type Regal Van , or GTe breadvan type V6 powered Classic heavily favoured by the then Pri...

Re: Off topic 'what is that?'

I had 4 Ladas and they all had a rear brake compensator which could actually cause a lockup. Ihad two 1200s one for over 4 years, and raced both , the day before I was due to exchange it for a Brand new Nissan Bluebird I had an off and hit a stack of pallets, which left some scores that wouldn't T C...

Re: what's this???

I don't know whether this is entirely relevant , but the Wych and Coppock Proctor markV11 circa 1957 'Caprice, I owned, had rolled side decks, and as said a more upright looking bow, the latter characteristic in all Merlin Rockets, after the original Wizard ones like Kate and even Gentley which didn...

Re: Off topic 'what is that?'

This may be a urban myth, but I understood most Ladas were exported back to Russia. I had 4 of the darn things one for over 4 years and made money on every one. https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5576/14699171485_05077be95f.jpg Rupert is right about the built in steering slop but I actually raced a coup...

I had one on my first Solo, a home built job(not by me)a time warp boat from 1968, and it had GP 14 stamped on it. Image:roll:

Re: Maybe not a dinghy, but worth a look on ebay

Andrew as it has a centreboard casing she looks rather like one of the Leader dinghy variants, nice forgiving craft to sail, albeit the sails are a bit confusing in the pics. So I think the Scouts used this keelboat is probably a descriptive error, however I could well be wrong. After selling my Ber...

Re: Not directly boat related...

Yes I like Jonathan, he put on special Menues at various events and evenings being a bit of a Bon Viveur I turned up one time, to find him doing more mundane duties starting to butter and fill rolls in the galley on his lonesome. I set to and helped. Last I saw him was after I resold my Lightning 36...

Lovely Craft Chris(no not a Chris Craft, but I would'nt say no to one of them.) Gently has rolled cockpit decks but did Kate? as maybe its optical elusions, that make her look otherwise, in the pics on the Association Web sight. This is my old one, http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z454/gav110/014...

Re: Painting the inside of a grp moulding

 Having survived a Bypass and being in critical care, a total of 8 weeks after I precurred the 1968 Minisail, followed by 4 weeks off road, all I wanted to do was get out on a motorbike again and sail boats again. The latter took a bit longer,as the healing process was more lengthy than antici...
