a much less troublesome solution if you pardon thye pun is to use lemon juice/citric acid either freshly squeezed or from the chemist respectively and common old salt. Ed when you relaminated did you use straight epoxy or with fibrous additive - a small amount makes quite a difference to the strength/ reduction in brittleness of joint.
