My God! 40 W or D would almost completely remove gel coat. You should start with 400 grade and progress through finer grades finishing off with a rubbing compound. Use plenty of water with perhaps a dash of washing up liquid added.

Yes, good quality household paint is excellent, I have used it on numerous boats. I have recently used Johnstones (Est. 1890) Weatherguard "6 year" exterior gloss (cheaper than Dulux) and can recommend it. However limited range of colours.

Yes David, I do have pictures of "Chrysalis". However they are proper photos, the kind you used to hand round and bore friends and relations who visited and had no interest in sailing!

She looks to be in pretty good nick. Decks look good but photos can be deceiving. Unusal to see centre mainsheet on a Mk 12 she would originally have had transom sheeting. A Mk.12 can be a good boat especially on restricted water. Let me know the number & I will look through my M/R yearbooks to ...
