Re: Back on the water!

I never got this plastic hull back on the water, albeit the woman whom came up from Southend was glad of it to replace her old leaky worn out one.

Re: Classic Family Day Sailer - advice requested!

I know its not what you are after but may I politely sugest a Puffin Pacer. 12' 08" with about 5 ft beam and a nice double chine line leading to a sharp bow, these are great all rounders. I had one for about 3 years. I seemed like a cross between a Mirror, inside and Enterprise, a smaller light...

Re: Bill Kempner on Fireball

In 1967 Ted Heath bought and sailed the Snipe 'BLUE HEATHER' which he sold at the end of the summer, and bought a Fireball 'BLUE HEATHER II' , one of the first to have a fibre-glass hull and built by Chippendales. He sailed this in the summer of 1968, and as it is quite a demanding boat, like most o...

Re: Bill Kempner on Fireball

Of course 70s Prime Minister Sir Edward Heath sailed a Fireball(and Snipe) at Broadstairs SC, before the first of his Morning Cloud Yachts, there seems precious little info out there on Heath's Fireball interests. I do however remember it being discussed on the association's old website after Sir Te...

Re: Weight for a Harrier

I was going to get a Harrier with a Phantom tin rig, last summer, but that fell through. I wish I could get back down to 15 stone, however having got my Merlin Rocket on the water(I do need to address a leaky bailer though) I have prevaricated lately on getting on with the rehulled Fireball-or it wil...

Re: Anyone with a Harrier+ available

David I did'nt begin to imagine you were dissing Streakers, just saying the Harrier was a bigger boat which was why I thought one might suit. Mention of Grimsby docks brought back memories, as to when I attended Grimsby Nautical/Navigation college. Some of us took every leisure time opertunity to sa...

Re: Anyone with a Harrier+ available

Yep I didnt mean any comparison, numbers wise, but maybe was relieved to find out the Harrier was a heavy beasty, as like Jack Holt I was finding Solos I owned, a drag to get out of the water & up the ramp, so should at least avoid weighty single handers. http://www.bluelightning.co.uk/Harrier/H...

Re: Anyone with a Harrier+ available

There were a couple on Apollo Duck with Phantom Tin rigs last year and having thought I had secured one (went to the range for a new lightboard and straps)only on return to be informed it had been sold, so no trip to Norfolk for that one, such is life. I was offered a standard rig Harrier. As a regi...

Re: Byte bits

In the summer, I was looking out for a single hander and thought I had bought a Phantom tin rig Harrier on A p Duck. However having gone out to buy a new lightboard and straps, for the occassion, returned home to get a message that it was sold. Then via Y&Y, someone contacted me to say he had a ...

Re: an early MR?

I know the National 12 was originally designed for the Royal Harwich Yacht club as a one design and have seen races with the 14 therein too, which was also by Uffa Fox(I think).I hadnt heard of Kingfishers being built at or near Ipswich, so that would be interesting too, being near to here. Having a...
