Re: Changing sail numbers
I think evo stik glue remover is acetone based. Sail number adhesive is probably spirit based, so white spirit would remove it.

Re: Changing sail numbers
Starbright sail and canvas cleaner; does what it says on the tin.
or Pinnell and Bax sail number remover:-

(presumably it only removes the residue, not the number!)

beware; my back was stiff and not moving or flexible, lifetime of heavy lifting etc. Chiropractor sucessfully freed it all up. Great! except now I suffer loads of pain and loss of feeling in my back, knees, legs and feet.

Re: Leaks
Hi Max with a ribbed clinker boat, you would expect some leaks. Yours I presume is ply. If the boat has been dry for some time, just try keeping it wet for a few days and you might find the woodwork will 'take up' with expension. If not, then you can try pouring water inside the boat while it's on t...

Re: Enhancing the Grain in wood
I always use a sanding block. Accurate, flat and even sanding along the grain with no scratching across the grain is all there is to it. It isn't a sculpting exercise. If you can get the mirka abranet sanding sheets, they are very good. Dampening the surface will bring the grain back up so you can see any cross ...

Thinned varnish, no contest. Epifanes do a flow enhancer (Robbins don't stock it) which is excellent for the top coats rather than introducing more thinners.

Soda blasting
Hi
has anyone had any experience of soda blasting on wooden boats?
I've seen excellent results on grp and metal and cleaning up structural timber in buildings.
