Re: Boat Age Handicap - Kent

Had this event penciled in but I thought it was going to be a bit too breezy for the old one.
Down here on the coast we had a nice good solid F6 which built to F7 by lunch time so the Dart/Sprint 15 was the order of the day. Great stuff.
Bough Beech next year?

Re: Frensham Pond next event

Certainly will but dunno what with yet. With a 100% servicability in the fleet (eat your heart out Grey Funnel Line!) and 75% of the fleet CVRDA eligible there is no reason not to be. Plus, of course, the Frensham hospitality. Looking forward to it.

Re: Competition time

The cockpit area from a Laser deck moulding? If it's not, shame 'cause it's about the best thing that could happen to a Laser.

Re: Vintage OK. Ready to go

Oh, I ain't no river sailer!! The OK is just a very nimble, chuckable little boat. Upper Thames S.C. has one of the largest fleets in the UK.
As for the fixed rudder, I probably had the heavy old lifting one in the camper if required. Did'nt realise I was pushing my luck. Kool

Vintage OK. Ready to go

No. 906 from 1965/67. Recently added to the class site I believe this boat was a barn find by one my friends in the class. Although he has a modern all singing & dancing pastic/carbon OK, he has taken the trouble to get this one back in sailing condition. When I saw it at the 50th birthday event ...

Looks like the OK is the boat for you then Jim Take what was posted with as much salt as you can drink while capsized in the Solent. There are several measurement rules regarding side deck size etc and "bouyancy within the cockpit area is permited under the side decks to a point not lower than ...

Yep, Mark. Chippenham is most definately not a two beer venue. In fact, it could prove challenging to earn one pint despite the fact that it could easily be described as a pint sized venue. Pat, sailing a YW Dayboat inverted is probably the only way some excitement is going to be had. So no beers ea...

What is it with forums? Some facts are probably needed here but it's late and I cannot be arsed. Rupert. In reply to your original question, an OK will NOT come upright dry but will have enough water on board to steady and lower the boat to just the right height to be able to climb back in over the ...

Sorry Richard but I just cannot remember how much West I used. It must be at least 10 years ago now. But it certainly was not 4kg! Seem to recall that 1kg was roughly the same sort of volume as 750ml of varnish/paint? I do remember that I applied 2 coats but I think that this may have been a bit bel...

Richard. I put two coats of West System on the decks of OK 1211 some 10 years ago and have been pleased with it. Although she lives in a garage now she was kept outside all year and suffered no damp penetration. I have used single pack varnishes of various brands over the top, just making sure they ...

Garry,
if you want to go singlehanded just get the right tool for the job.

Mind you, Lois went really well at Clywedog in the Albacore singlehanded. She would have gone even quicker without the sea anchor she had trailing from the stern.
