Re: Roger be afraid be very afraid

Thanks Al, look forward to having a play one day... Glad to hear you'll still be finning too! I've got slightly less bad at reversing trailers over the last few years but am in no position to give advice... I work on the principle of give it a go but be prepared to get out and push it by hand if nee...

Re: Roger be afraid be very afraid

Good luck with the resto work! I've always thought F15s to be a lovely looking boat but never had a chance to have a play in one (hint!)....

Re: Flying Dutchman GBR290

Now that does sound tempting, especially with Julian's stirring endorsement of the class. I can't find the add - maybe it's in print only (that's odd, I'll check what it says on the front of my calendar !). Sadly neither my garage or river are big enough... and that's ignoring the collection of Finn...

Re: Any interest in a long distance river race as a CVRDA op

Hi All,

Happy to say that our club programme is now confirmed including this event - CVRDA Picnic Race Open, Monday 30th May 2016, Severn SC.

Will confirm rest of the details in the spring but thought I'd confirm now so can be added to the CVRDA events calendar.

Cheers
Keith

I'm planning on being there, plus the other classic Finn from my club will probably be coming too.

Re: Any interest in a long distance river race as a CVRDA op

Thanks Giles! Yes getting much more interest than I expected! I plan to be in Bristol so see you there... Jules - you are right about the location, there are always some narrow boats and cruisers - they are one of the challenges of river sailing and due to their size they have right of way over us! ...

Re: Any interest in a long distance river race as a CVRDA op

Tony, would be great to have you with us, either boat would be good, MR may be the more natural river boat but we have a history of Finn sailing at my club too. That said short tacking a Finn on the river is hard work on the legs, fortunately their are bends in the river so short tacking all the way...

Re: Any interest in a long distance river race as a CVRDA op

This is rather exciting!!! I look forward to welcoming you all to SSC for some adventures on the river (ditch sailing as its sometimes called!). Basically I have the go ahead to hold the event so long as there is interest so, as there clearly is, I will speak to people my end and get it confirmed as...

Re: Any interest in a long distance river race as a CVRDA op

Wow, thanks for all the responses, you all sound very keen so should be a goer! Yes, camping, caravans, motorhomes no problem, also we have a well stocked bar (not quite as well stocked as the fleet inn but the prices are much better!). I can confirm full width of the river is usable in nearly all p...

Any interest in a long distance river race as a CVRDA open?

Hi All, I've been trying to encourage a bit of interest in the cvrda at my club, this has resulted in the suggestion of inviting the cvrda to join us for a long distance river race we call the 'picnic race' so I'm posting to ask if this might be of interest? My club is Severn SC which is on the Rive...
