Re: Best 'spin-out' class & best missed 'spin-out' class
Mayfly and Seafly were also derived from a Merlin design. There are still a few Seaflys lurking in the dinghy park at Starcross

Re: Best 'spin-out' class & best missed 'spin-out' class
If you expand the scope slightly, there must be plenty of classes that can trace their ancestry back to a dev class design. For starters -
Lark - Nat 12, Jackson March Hare design
Laser 2 - Bethwaite Cherub (think I read that somewhere?)

Re: What are these?
The decks on the first one don't look quite right for a 505 - Wineglass maybe?

Re: How to explain this to the missus???
Hi David Her fit out is very spartan, very few fittings and certainly no snubbing winch. He...

Re: How to explain this to the missus???
Oops, meant to add, no she isn't the 505 from ebay. There is a little more to the story - K698 was only advertised locally and I think the seller really just wanted to vet any potential buyer. When I started to talk about making an offer against his advertised price he just stated this was to deter ...

Re: How to explain this to the missus???
Hi, yes, I am the Starcross Dave Lee K698 is still called "Trollet" - her original owner was working over in Sweden when he built her and the name relates to local folklore. I have an amazing pile of documentation which came with her which includes the receipts and invoices for probably ev...

How to explain this to the missus???
Hi all A long time since I've posted here, or indeed sailed at a CVRDA event, but I'm now hoping to make a return at some of the 2011 events (assuming the missus hasn't killed me first  ). The reason for my return from the wilderness is the almost accidental purchase of a beautiful cold mould...
