Hykeham Who's coming?

The catering side would like a rough idea of how much salad to provide for the Saturday night BBQ. Could you let us know how many to expect please. I could do with an idea of how many are likely to appear on the Friday night and a ball park time please so I can ensure the gates are open. We have cam...

Re: Hykeham Nor Etc

For some reason the forum will not pick up the documents . Most of what you need to know is in the previous posts. First race on the Saturday will be 1130, briefing 1100, races 2 &3 to follow probably with a short break between them.

Hykeham Nor Etc

I was going to attach NOR sailing instructions and entry form but technology has beaten me Docs to follow The format will be 3 races on the Saturday and 2 or 3 on the Sunday depending on what competitors want. Sunday racing will start at 1030 or thereabouts so people with a long way to go can get aw...

Hykeham meeting

I have decided not to leave everything until the last minute this year so here goes. Hykeham meeting August 4th and 5th. 3 races Saturday starting 1130 and either 2 or 3 on the Sunday depending upon what people want. It was suggested today that we could start early on the Sunday say 1000 >1030 to av...

Re: Hunts - who is coming?

Huge thanks to all who helped to make this a memorable weekend....again. Particular thanks to Nessa and birthday girl Nikki for their usual high standard of organisation and , of course , providing me with crews. If only the weather had been as good as the event. Next year maybe

Re: Tube bailers

I have a pair that don't seem to have seen much use. On the other hand I also have quite a few Elvestroms which , like everyone else, I think are a better bet

This was due to have been our first vintage Merlin meeting. Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond my control ,again!, we look unlikely to be able to attend. Next year maybe

Re: Merlin 1028

Having sorted the woodwork and most of the varnish out ( pictures on F/B merlin revival page) I now turn my attention to fittings and rig. Not being well versed in modern thinking on the use of spinnakers who should hoist it helm or crew? The boat will be transom sheeted. I have acquired a twin pole...

Re: Any ideas?

Rig tension and a kicker that actually works, which is more than could be said of the one on the Grads I used to borrow, made a huge difference to both the Grad and Ent. We were all very excited when we got the new "Big Jib" in the mid 60s and it certainly made things a bit less exciting o...

Re: Any ideas?

What a co incidence I started in Ents and went on to Grads which at 8 years old I found much easier because they then had the small jib and were a foot narrower. I was helming regularly by my mid teens and found the old type ill equipped Grad absolutely evil down wind in any sort of breeze. Physical...
