Re: Northern Area Championships at Kielder

So the weather looks better than it has for weeks, we have a warm welcome lined up for visitors and are really looking forward to sailing this weekend. If you want to see a small portion of the sailing area available and the fantastic location just have a look at our "I Love Sailing " vide...

Calling all Northern and Scottish sailors

If like me you never bother looking at the events pages as everything is too far away then you may need to pop down there and have a look......

Northern Area Championships at Kielder

Sorry for the late notice but at last I can confirm that the Kielder Water Sailing Club Early Open incorporating the CVRDA Northern Area Championships will be taking place on the 5th and 6th of May 2012 and all CVRDA boats are more than welcome. All competitors sailing boats with a PY of 1199 or les...

Re: Wooden Mast - Free to good home

I was wondering if it might actually be an Osprey mast - the size sound about right. I know 55's wooden boom is mighty long compared to a centre sheeted alloy one. If so it might be of use to me as I would like to get her back to "as built". I will measure up tomorrow....

Re: Keelson Replacement

It sounds like my sort of approach. The only thing I would suggest is ensuring the hull is sufficiently braced and supported when removing the c/b case and lumps of Keelson. Boats do like to assume new shapes if you turn your back on them whilst major supporting bits are removed.....

Re: Holt event at Wraysbury, July

From the website it looks like they are going to have an early Miracle at the dinghy show on the Holt display and they seem to have a Holt weekend in the sailing calender so they are aware...

Re: Holt event at Wraysbury, July

Whilst the Miracle forum is a bit neglected these days there is an active class association with contact details on the website. http://miracledinghy.org/

Re: Tool review Thread

You only catch your finger in one of those once to be put off for life..... A modern cordless driver is much easier and safer as it does not tend to slip off the screw with full force, impale itself in the nice bit of wood and nip your finger in one smooth move! If they are still for sale then the b...

Project Osprey on e-bay

Looks like Osprey 250 is in for a sad end unless someone wants a project -http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150738912896&category=98955&_trksid=p5197.c0.m619#ht_932wt_1344 It is a shame that he buys a boat for its mast and rig then feels sad that no-one wants the hull ...

Re: Wooden Osprey Mk II

Congratulations on a wonderful boat choice. The Osprey class has a very active forum on their web site which may help with sails. If not then I may have something tucked away in the loft but will not get to look until the new year. Out of interest there was only ever one MkI Osprey built for the oly...

Re: Now Too Cold and Wet For Epoxy

For small repairs a small spotlight or angle poise lamp with a proper bulb in it will provide enough local heat to let your epoxy set properly. Keep the resin and hardener in the house so it never drops in temperature before you mix it. If working in a cold garage take the tins out of the house in a...

Re: Fixtures 2012

I can confirm that Kielder would like to host the CVRDA Northern Area Championship on May the 5th and 6th, with competitors being invited to join in our annual Dam to Dam challenge trophy on Mon 7th (bank holiday). I will need help and advise on how CVRDA meetings are normally run, handicaps etc but...
