Re: otter self bailers ?

Experiments in Herons has show that 2 Super Max's can drain the boat in about 5 minutes of reaching back and forth. The experiments were carried out with the boat sailed single-handed. Even with self-bailers fitted, I'd definitely keep the bucket and use that to get rid of most of the water.

Re: Plank and seal issues on the ToY

With the wood still being OK re-gluing with a better glue (epoxy?) sounds the best bet. That's what I'd anyway.

Contender masts have spreaders and lowers so may need more rig tension than you're happy to put on the old girl.

In principle yes.

Re: ToY info needed.

Having had a look at the photos with a magnifying glass I can see something behind the clew of the sail indicative of an outhaul. It's clearly eased off a lot. Too much in fact and sheeted in too close to the centreline. He seems to be trying to sail it like a sloop-rigged boat; which is wrong. I've...

Re: Help identifying a clinker built dinghy

I bet there were loads of boat builders in the old days each building their own designs of, basically, cruising dinghies. It could even be a custom one-off. That forwards thwart looks like a bit of a botch job from the photos, perhaps an attempt to cure movement of the centreboard case?

Made by Hyde so fairly modern and unlikely to fit a very old Merlin.

Re: Harrier sail

I believe the Harrier+ is a Phantom rig and that the original sail was a lot smaller. Maybe something like a Solo main would work at your weight?
