Re: Library staple? Uffa book, Anyone care to review it?
I picked a copy up at the local charity shop a couple of years ago and it makes an interesting read. Most of the designs covered are the authors own and after a few thoughts on the design and his brief where applicable he relates stories, mostly concerning himself, relating to the class involved. He...

Re: Albacore ident
It would have been built in 1975 and almost certainly from a Fosrite hull. Lots of builders used the "Fozzy" hull at that time Bacon, Knight and Pink Linton and Young to name but a few.

Re: Introductions
Being up to my usual standard I have only just noticed this thread so I thought I had better stick my spoke in. Sam Mason (Christened Peter) I first sailed in Enterprises in 1958 then crewed Graduates, Entererprises, Fireballs and Albacores until I could afford a boat of my own . I took my first Ent...

Re: Enterprise questions.
You have opened a can of worms here but ,as ever, there is a relatively easy solution. Lets look at a couple of scenarios. Fairleads too far forward and the jib leach straightens, it can't actually hook because most are slightly hollowed, while the straight leach chokes the slot moving the fairleads...

Re: Enterprise questions.
The kicker is now of optional design meaning that the sky is the limit. 16:1 is the best option and this can be achieved by a simple cascade system at no great cost. It was my experience in Enterprises that letting the traveller out all the way when breezy slowed tacking down significantly and was a...

Re: Enterprise questions.
The track is there because the rules when the boat was built said it had to have one. Some had control lines some didn't . Most people threw lines out and used a boom slide secured in the middle of the track and this is all it needs leach control being via the kicker. The theory of moving the slide ...

Re: IYE Tiller for a Merlin
Hi Ian
The tiller is still here. For the record it is 1280mm long, the end pinch bolt is present and functional and I would describe it as in good condition.
A fiver plus any postage charge gets it
. Pm me and we will go from there if you want to go ahead

Re: Enterprise rudder
Pay no attention to it. For reasons not actually clear to anyone other than themselves Moores stamped numbers in the most peculiar places. From the picture it LOOKS like an early Moores rudder and if it fits and works why worry

Re: Keelson Replacement
Nothing to it. Boat upside down (obviously) Start at the back with a chisel as large as you can find (1 1/2" ish) and our trusty mallet. drive the chisel under the keel at the transome and twist it a bit.The keel, if it is rotten will come off in bits or if it is not rotten will come off in one...
