Re: FLYING FIFTEEN
If you belong to a club with plenty of flying fifteens (Bewl for example) you may find that there are spare/old replaced foils and rigs around, not to mention decent used sails from the front of the fleet. Where are you?

Re: wood for a traveller bar
Proper way to do a preform is to make a male and a female former; router with a compass some thick chipboard or mdf multiples glued and screwed together will give you a deeper mould. Different outside cuve/inside curve, difference is the thickness of the bit you want to form plus an allowance for gl...

Re: wood for a traveller bar
good example RonnyDG. Pre-forms are stiffened by the number of glue lines, like ply which is stiffer with more layers, so if you laminated 4 layers of 2mm it would be stiffer than 2 layers of 4mm. Would also be stiffer than the equivalent 1 layer of oak steamed to shape. The glass layer effectively ...

These are worth a look. It may be worth using a neutraliser after stripping which will aid against any reaction if there is stripper still stuck in the grain. Some of these products are aimed at the fine carving resto market where sanding and scraping isn't an option. There are specific lacquer and ...

Re: What does everyone else do with their sails?
I knew a bloke who, together with his newly betrothed, had to climb over his BSA DBD34 clubman goldstar in order to reach the marital bed! I could get the finn in through the french doors for a quick re-varnish in the through lounge...wouldn't get away with it though! Everything sailing is consigned...
