Re: "I don't believe it"
I heartily concur with David..some days you are not meant to get out of bed. I left the services to go and meet David, trundling through the road works near Membury and some **** in a transit just kindly piles into the trailer..twists the frame and wrecks my tow hitch! His survival came into questio...

Re: Do you know THIS one?????
Is it a figment of my failing brain or wasn't there a mini fireball called the "Bullet", designed by Peter Milne? A more youth orientated design I think?

Simon.

Elvstrom Finn?
Hi, Would someone be kind enough to have a look at some pictures of the Finn I got from Ivan before Christmas. As I don't know what I'm really looking for(other than it is a pretty sound, but very basic), I'd like to find out if it is an Elvstrom. I hope to be at Whitefriars in February, then start ...

Shearwater still for sale!
Hi again!
Shearwater 1943(I think) is still for sale. Early 70's wooden boat, good mast and boom, lots of sails, launching dolly. Can help with transport, but trailer not for sale! Good, CHEAP fun!
Regards,
Simon

Re: Combi wanted for a Finn
Thanks guys.
Back to my original request, I missed out on Nessa's combi, so I'm still looking if anyone knows of anything about.
Regards,
Simon

Re: Combi wanted for a Finn
Thanks for that Peter.
I've rigged the boom with some spectra to try it, works well. However, I'll also get a length of wire to try the same. I'd probably be a tad more confident of wire! If I get some of the "soft" wire, what diameter would you recommend?
Cheers and thanks,
Simon

Re: Combi wanted for a Finn
Thanks for that info. Is it going to be OK if I simply have the the wire or spectra anchored on the boom, then down to the block on the mast, then fed back up to block let into the boom, then to the winder inside the boom. I'm looking forward to getting out asap...I need to balance the jobs list aga...

Re: Combi wanted for a Finn
Hi, Yes I finally got her. Overall, not too bad. I'm going to have to make a list of jobs and get them done before my kick off on 8th March! The boom has a wheel kicker fitting like on my old OK. Think I'll stick with it but use a couple of blocks to increase the purchase. The mast foot is a little ...

Re: Combi wanted for a Finn
Thanks Nessa, that was quick! I'm sure the length of the trolley would be fine and the cradle would hold the bulk of the hull. How much did you have in mind? I'm located in South Wales, a trip to Bedford isn't out of the question! Or if I could meet you at a convenient spot that would be good, eithe...

Re: Guidance and help needed!
Thanks Neil, I've just ordered the book you suggested.
I just e-mailed Stu and he's said he's got a file full of canoe info I can pick up off him in the near future.
Thanks for your help,
Regards,
Simon

Guidance and help needed!
Hi, Could anyone please advise? I'm interested in reading up/learning about traditional clinker boat building. I know, a huge topic, probably more information out there than my little brain could ever cope with! But seriously, could anyone point me in the right direction of a book which describes/ex...

Re: Anyone need a crew for Baltic Wharf?
Hi David, 17.5 stone...will fit(just)but probably not competitive! Give me aring on 01446790128 if I can help. I'd love to get out if possible., but the weather forcast is poor(to say the least!), at least I have a reasonable layer of insulation.
