Re: 11+ on Ebay

There was definitely an Eleven Plus association back in the day, but I have no idea how numbers were allocated. I think it was always a single builder class, so probably by the builder.

Re: Pegasus repair

I've never come across a boat that was absolutely symmetrical. Add 40 years of use and abuse and half an inch isn't too bad!

Re: Bosham classics

I think anyone who criticises 2 digit handicaps is completely missing the point of classic dinghy racing. I'm rather of the opinion that anyone who think they are a significant problem doesn't understand Portsmouth Yardstick very well. I don't altogether enthuse about them, but I understand the log...

All that has a certain resonance for me, and I have family in the area.

Re: 1973 Int Moth 3517 (Skol iii)

Here's an interesting thing. Unskol was rigged in the front yard over the weekend, and while I was at it I retrieved the rig she came with from the garage roof. I had assumed it was an old style low aspect ratio rig, but in fact its not. Its the standard luff length, but with a long boom and soft sa...

Unskol is still available. If you fancy doing Bowmoor she's ready to go.

Re: Laser 2 - Lost Class

The Laser II is still a registered ISAF International class. I scarcely think that's quite what we are there for. Add the Laser 2 and you also need to add the ISO, Spice, the ghastly Boss, the dreadful Laser 5 tonner, all that lot...

Re: 11+ afloat

What did the the rowlock fittings look like? They must have been raised to allow the oar to clear the curved side tank. Nasty to look at and to sit on unless there was a clever solution. https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/892/40176195805_7590b913f3_c.jpg This just about shows what was there. Nasty cover...

Re: 11+ afloat

She's old enough that the jib would originally have been set on a strop, not at deck level, which possibly explains the sheet locations. A barber hauler to the rails on the inside of the tanks would probably give a better sheeting angle (lateral and vertical) and reduce the snagging a bit. I concur t...

Re: 11+ afloat

Well done.

No, I have no idea when she was last sailed. I'd be fairly surprised if it were much after 1990, maybe well before. I can't see it could possibly have been after 1995.

Any machine shop ought to be able to make one. That's what I did last time I needed one, 'twas done very unofficially at Hawker Siddeley!

Sailed there a few times with the Canoes: nice club and great scenery. You think South Wales/post industrial, but Llandegfedd is up in the hills and very decorative, but still handy for towns and especially one curry house the ICs tend to frequent.
