Re: Early Int. Moth info.

Hi Len,
Yes, it was me who sold the scow, I'm in Scotland at present, on my mobile, so not easy to post, but I'll be back soon, and catch up with u. Great to see her sailing.

Re: Europa Moth, wooden mast wanted

Thanks for the Links........very interesting. I suspect that wooden masts secondhand/affordable will be in short supply if they're collectable, but certainly worth a try. Does anyone know whether the wooden masts for the "Mark" class were sourced from another design? I bought a Mark a few ...

Re: Bill Kempner on Fireball

Hi Chris,
Thanks for that, I'll do that when I get back from Scotland next week, it would be great to know some history. You should have some pics on your email if you haven't already found them.

Re: Bill Kempner on Fireball

Hi Chris,
I've just managed to mess up my email account completely while trying to synch to my phone and can't send emails at present, and I have no scanner, but I will try and sort out a copy of the article in some form for you. Happy to register my boat too.

Re: Bill Kempner on Fireball

I have a copy of Light Craft with a report on the trials, including that photo...... interesting having recently bought an early Fireball (No. 573). I am also about to go and collect that ToY with it's (easily removed!) sliding seat....and as I haven't yet persuaded my other half that I won't drown ...

Re: Europa Moth, wooden mast wanted

Hmm, that's a possible I suppose.......I do get abroad once in a while, so it may be worth a look. Yes, it is basically the same boat.......I actually prefer the pivoting plate too. I think Europes (under their break-away rules) seem to have been established abroad a lot earlier than in the UK, (dat...

Re: Early Int. Moth info.

Hi Everyone, and thank you all so much for what has been written, there is a lot of interesting information coming forward here, and I am still absorbing it, hence delay replying. I think the fact that there seems to be a healthy interest in the history indicates that whether there is an artical wri...

Re: Early Int. Moth info.

Hi David, You would think that magazines would be eager to get some in depth articles to help sell on the Highstreet in this age of "online everything", but I take your point about not being able to get the whole story told. With regards to an "angle".... my immediate thought is ...

Re: Early Int. Moth info.

Thanks Peter,

I think the low numbers will be British Moth's, and the higher ones Int. prior to all the changes. Interestingly there are no numbers between 1000 and 2000.

Re: Europa Moth, wooden mast wanted

Ah, I did wonder if that was the explanation re Contender nos. The Europa Moth I had before was also a swing keel, and that seems to be pretty much the only difference.......not sure if all E. Moths had that, or some were daggerboard? I have only ever seen the ones I've owned (which is quite surpris...

Re: sexy toy on ebay

Ah, thanks for that Rupert.........there will be a lot of experimenting going on....not sailed a planker since my Minisprint a good few years ago. Main reason for thinking of trying this ToY is 'cos I've got a dodgy knee for hiking out! :(
