Re: Kestrel Help

Where are you measuring the 14-15mm, I have a Holt gooseneck going to waste in the garage but think it might be too small. If Nessa doesn't come up with one and mine could be made to fit I will happily post it down.

Harsh but sadly, in some cases, true.
I had a grp Solo of that era and most of the important stiffeners, in the floor and centreboard case, had suffered from water ingress rotting the wood stiffeners.

Needlespar mast track repair

I have a Needlespar mast, the track has become detached in a couple of places and needs pop riveting back on. I have a pop rivet gun and correct size rivets but I found that the rivet gun will not fit into the slot of the track. I have tried a hollow spacer but then the rivet gun doesn't grip the ri...

Re: international moth tiller extensions

I have used landing net handles, available from your local fishing tackle shop. Being a cheap-skate I used the aluminium one but they are now made in carbon fibre.

I have to confess I got mine at a boot fair.

Re: What knot? How to lash lower shrouds to chainlinks.

The Cadets, Mirrors and Herons of my youth were rigged with thin rope, using numerous turns between chainplate and shroud ends. We then used to use multiple half hitches to tidy up the loose ends, there is no real force being applied to that end of the rope as you have got a multipart purchase.

Re: Can anyone identify my Cat ?

Yes I think we are talking about the same boat. I tried to add a scanned page from the book but it is too big a file. I will try to PM it to you. Seems the system will not allow that either, PM me an email address and I will send it over. It comes from The Boat world guide to sailing dinghies publis...

Re: Seabat/Sportscraft Skiff on eBay

I sailed one many years ago, it was good for a laugh on a hot and very windy day, I fell off or was washed off quite a bit and it certainly was not comfortable. I would say it is okay as on off the beach toy but not really suitable for more serious sailing.

Re: Can anyone identify my Cat ?

Found one in a book that looks very similar,
called a 'Flash', GRP hulls, designer Greg Gregory, 12'2" by 6'9" but no builder details. Sail emblem that looks like a comma with an eye and mouth.

Tried google but did not find anything!

I would like them but I live down south so they would need a courier. Is that possible, thought I'd ask before I bid.

Re: Sail insignias I do not recognise

There is a picture and a few words about the Vitress in Percy Blandford's book 'Sailing dinghies of the world' published in 1973. Seems they are grp but appear to be clinker built, utility boats originating in Norway. Bermudan rigged with a sail area of 102 sq.ft. 4.72m by 1.67m (15'6" by 5'6&q...
