Re: Thames Regatta this weekend!

Thank you from Thames to all who came last weekend. Big electric fans are now on order and will be installed along the river bank by next year. I have now (finally) published the results on the Thames sailing club website at http://www.thamessailingclub.co.uk/50012/Sailing/Sailing_Calendar/Open_and_...

Thames Regatta this weekend!

Following hot on the heels of great events at both Frensham and Netley (my thanks also to the team at Netley - first time I've had my Albacore planing like that - huge fun!), we have the Vintage and Open Regatta at Thames Sailing Club this coming weekend. The weather looks set to be sunny and hot bu...

Re: Frensham Pond next event

On behalf of the contingent from the Thames Sailing Club, a big thank you to Charles, Nick and all the other organisers and the catering team at Frensham for a great weekend and a very welcoming reception. The rain stayed away and we even had some sun! The courses set were challenging, even more so ...

Re: Mast collection

Right

I have the mast and will be bringing it along to Netley. Where does it go from there and who takes it? It isn't like the lengendary original Flying Dutchman and just spends it's existence travelling hither and thither with no actual final destination is it?

Thames Sailing Club Vintage Regatta 26th/27th July

Dont forget that after Frensham and Netley comes the Regatta at Thames. You'll have had the lake and the sea, now the river! We've done a lot more work this year building this year's regatta as a spectator event. We've had an article in Classic Boats about the club's focus on classic sailing (which ...

Thames Sailing Club Vintage Regatta proposal

I'm sorry it's taken me so long to come back with dates for our Vintage Regatta. We have to plan in concert with the River User's Group to ensure that we dont have a sculling or rowing race or motorboat regatta ploughing through our event and it's taken until now to get it sorted. Unfortunately our ...

A big thank you to all who braved the elements to attend the TSC Vintage Regatta. Numbers were inevitably down but the quality of racing, once we'd upped sticks midway through the event to Island Barn, was superb. It was great to have John and Lyn and Chris and Lois along with their venerable Merlin...

Thames Sailing Club are reviewing whether or not we are able to race this weekend in light of the floods in the Thames Valley basin which had produced a very strong flow in the Surbiton stretch of the Thames. We do have a stiff south westerly breeze and otherwise wonderful sailing conditions. We sha...

Last posing is right. The river is running pretty fast (I was at the TSC about 10 minutes ago). However the forecast for tomorrow afternoon is a good 11 knots SW which usual means a constant wind and plenty enough to overcome the stream. So providing we dont get too much more rain overnight, we shou...

A message for all the trapeze artists out there. I spoke to our Sailing Sec and Event Race officer who agreed to waive our usual ban on the use of trapeze equipped boats. We dearly want to see any interesting and unusual older classes at our event and don't want to exclude any for this reason. The r...
