Re: Moving Quickly Along - Merlin 950

Shearwater is the place where the flags on the six marks all fly in different directions and you can have two boats with spinnakers flying (now that's rare at Shearwater) running downwind towards each other! More likely, you beat up the lake then beat back down the lake. I take it the two boats wil...

Re: My legs still hurt...BB

Don't worry Steve, I'm the same!! My manager at work follows my facebook, and he knew I was aching...

So today (Well last night really) for a laugh, I was a mover, a full day of pallet truck duty!!!

He has a sadistic sense of humour!! :D

Re: Vuvuzela!!

AG,

Been there and know exactly where you are coming from. Crewed Peter Colby, on a Breezy day, with Owen on the line. Took all week for me to recover (Although that may have been, the liquid picnic hamper that Peter always sails with!!)

Re: Moving Quickly Along - Merlin 950

You never know you may be able to convert a few more from the plastic bottles, into real boats! Jon (Hang on sailin...

Chris, interesting thought. That makes sense and could be something, modern boats have been missing...(never occured to me before!)

Will think on it!!

Re: Moving Quickly Along - Merlin 950

Nice buy.. Hope to see you sailing her at an event soon.. I think I have only sailed a Merlin in conditions as bad as Saturday once before, that was Newbiggin in the mid 90's. But, it was not so much the wind strength that was the problem it was the fact that as every gust hit the wind direction ch...

Re: Bough Beech - June 19th

I would like to post a warning to any one who sails opens at Bough Beech.. In the first race we came ashore for emergancy repairs, so we thought we would sail to the grass like area and just sit there... Bow nearly on the beach, I jump out...... Was swimming until David sailed the boat onto the beac...

Re: Bough Beech - June 19th

Is the race report sorted? Not too sure I can contiribute much, we retired from the first race, and were not paying attention to the action on the water, and were away from the action on the other two, however may be able to cobble something together if no one else can...

Re: Bough Beech - June 19th

David, I think you worked me too hard yesterday!!! The boat can take that wind but poor old supercrew can not. Just about managed to get from the bedroom to the Sofa and then collapsed!!! Great sailing, but was using totally different muscles to those I use in the Blaze or at work. I think we may ne...

Re: Bough Beech - June 19th

Chris, to get round with cotton sails in those conditions was lovely to see, and very brave!! We were not happy with the way our sails looked, and they were newer than yours!! (although to look at them, you would not have thought so!!). Maybe we need to get some cotton sails as a go fast soloution!!...

Peter, she looked really good though, although I think you pushed us hard on handicap. Great to see such an historic boat out!!

Shamless plug coming  , it would be great to see her sailing during Oulton Week!!

Re: Bough Beech - June 19th

Many Thanks to all the team at Bough Beech for a very invigorating days sailing, just off to soak in a bath for a few hours!! Yes the major parts of the boat held together!!!! We just pulled one block off and tore the spinnaker, and considering the forecast of 35mph winds (I actually think it went a...
