dinghydata web site

Apologies to all those of you who use the dinghydata site on Geocities ( http://uk.geocities.com/dinghydata/index.htm ), but Yahoo have announced that they are closing Geocities in October. I have made a copy on Lycos at http://members.lycos.co.uk/dinghydata/index.htm , but this has more intrusive a...

Re: Transom drain flaps

If you're really going for cheap, circular holes and kitchen funnels. Worked on my old Ent many years ago.

Re: Harrier (Single hander Lost class?)

There's quite a fleet of these at Whitby, sailed with Phantom rigs and called Harrier+.

Re: Stain under varnish

On my old 12 I found that stripping the varnish with a hot air gun did both jobs at once. When I had to leave it for a year due to a back injury, the black stains were harder to get rid of, but careful applications of diluted Domestos (other brands of bleach based cleaner are available) did the tric...

Unfortunately the full line from the Who's Magic Bus is "I want it, I want it, I want it. You can't have it"

Info on the Bullet at http://uk.geocities.com/dinghydata/Bullet.htm
The Meteor scow had a star with a tail as it's sail insignia, but that's all I know.

Re: Future lost classes? PX? 490? Concept 302.

The 490 is French (along with the 420, 445, 470 and 485). See http://uk.geocities.com/dinghydata/Deriveurs/490.htm. 16ft is 4.88m, so (not allowing for much elasticity of tape measure) it could be a 490.
The PX I've not come across before.

Re: Pisces

It's an X4 right enough - the angled edge to the side decks, position of the cleats and the curve on the back of the daggerboard case/tank confirm it.

Meanwhile, back at Nessa's mystery boat...

The eBay "rowing boat"http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... TQ:GB:1123 looks like an X4 (French Laser look-alike; http://uk.geocities.com/dinghydata/Deriveurs/X4.htm) in the new photo.
