Canvas covers and masts with diamonds
Seeking knowledge and advice please! I have recently collected N12 2302 as a project, it's pretty original as are the cover & mast! The cover is green canvas, made by 'Renowned' and was obviously a really nice one in its day. It's mostly OK but the rear upper panels have a couple of mouse modifi...

Buoyancy bags for N12
I have a couple of ongoing N12 projects and will need some buoyancy bags. Does anyone have any surplus bags they would like to sell? Looking for 36"x12" or 39"x 9" or similar.

Re: what's this???
I had N1952 'Porky' which had an alloy plate. When did 12s move from steel to alloy?
NB. I've got on old steel N12 plate if anybody wants one for weightlifting practice.

Re: National 12 2066
Nice to see she is still around... she was once at Starcross YC in Devon, repaired (I think) by a chap called Jim Fricker, sold on to someone at Topsham SC, left lonely and waterfilled at Steph Rowsells little sailing school in Exmouth ( she of World championship Kitesurfing fame) and bought by me a...

Re: Rudder shape ?
Although I'm not familiar with this type of stock the pivot bolt seems a long way back in the stock, most of the ones I've come across are more central. I wonder if being so far back you get an effect a bit like on those big, flat B & Q trolleys which have the steering wheels at the back. They a...

New home required for National 12 N2323 War Cry
I took on N2323 as a 'final' project last year, bought unseen but on recommendation from a 12 expert. Sadly she has needed more work than anticipated, nothing I couldn't do but now it turns out I will not have anywhere to berth or keep her in 2016. Currently residing in my nice dry garage she has be...

Re: Vintage 12?
I've mailed the owner to get a hull number - shame it's so far away from me as it looks in good condition. On reflection probably good that it's a long way away.......
You can read owners mobile number in the pictures if you're keen.

Re: N12 2665
Apparently the hull is to be turned into a tree house.... but I've negotiated with the new owner to remove any potentially useful bits. When done I will list them in case any are useful to someone else doing up a 12.

Whisper 4 about to be consigned to Guy Fawkes unless gone in the next week or so. Current owner gained the boat as part of a house purchase, is not a sailor and has little time available so any offer will probably be accepted. Bad news is that boat is now out in the open so will deteriorate further ...

Re: Proctor C or similar
Had some good news! Apparently it was too windy to sail at Trent yesterday so Paul Turner & colleagues had a go at sorting out the boat shed - amongst many other things they found a bag containing numerous bits off my boat. A Proctor C may also have become available - fingers crossed.

Re: Proctor C or similar
Pat, thanks for the suggestion, I'll try them both. Steve, I'm not too worried about being totally true to the original design - mostly I want to be reasonably confident that the mast I use will be (a) up to the trials & tribulations of sailing with me! and (b) Ok for the mainsails I have which ...

I promised I wouldn't do it again but I seem to have gained another old National 12 - in not bad nick but needs a complete strip down and revarnish / repaint. On other boats I've used hot air gun, gentle scraping and light sanding as appropriate, I'm happy with this element but am I missing out on a...
