Re: The Best tea of the year!! 4th and 5th October
Weather is not looking too good. Chris, Luff on my current mast is just a foot shorter than your sail. The wooden mast when I finish it will be longer. We'll be there in any case tommorrow and see how it looks.

Re: The Best tea of the year!! 4th and 5th October
Chris, I have the cotton sails you lent/gave me. I haven't finished my wooden mast yet so haven't used them. They were way too tall for my metal mast although with a very short foot. Certainly be interested in a more normal size but I think my existing mast is quite short. I'll check it tomorrow and...

I hope to be there Saturday with Diabolo, no cotton sails or wooden mast yet though.

Re: my new old firefly
Thanks Rupert,
I used 1150 and 20 points would be 1142 so that should be good enough. The boat in question went very well in little wind short tacking against the tide.
Cheers

Re: my new old firefly
Just to highjack this thread a bit further, does anyone know of an "official" handicap for a single handed Firefly. I have seen the CVRDA listing from 100 to 99 but wondered if anyone had a figure in new money?
Thanks, Nick
Thanks, Nick

Re: Goose neck wanted
Hi David, Glad that arrived. I was a bit worried about the way it sloshed a bit. Thought the post office might not be happy about handling liquids. Hope the puppy enjoyed your pie! We used to have a cat that knocked things off the table for the dog to eat. Goose neck is perfect, I may need a b...

Re: Goose neck wanted
David,
The mast I got has everything on it but a halyard which is no big deal. Glad you beat the cleaner uppers!

Re: Goose neck wanted
Haven't eaten at the Hurricane since Wednesday evening and it was blackened scallops! Excellent food there. Guns are scarey. We rented a house here once that had a cupboard full of them but never had one under my pillow! Florida is not perfect, couldn't sail today because of thunderstorms and lightn...

Re: Goose neck wanted
David, You have to live for the here and now. Is there another world? it didn't get above 75F all day today. Hoping to sail at St Petersburg YC tomorrow. Watching from the balcony this evening, drink in hand, as a heron and an egret fight over a fishermans cast offs just below us. It's not easy here...

Re: Goose neck wanted
David, That's excellent news! Not sure you'll be close to me at present unless you fancy a warm weather break, we arrived in Florida yesterday for 3 weeks so missing the dinghy show and not reachable till mid March. Can I email you when we get back and see what is easiest? I am normally in Putney, L...

Re: Goose neck wanted
Turns out the goose neck I found goes in an aluminium mast and has the wrong dimensions for a track. David, if you do find that brass track and goose neck, I'd be grateful. Even just the goose neck as I can get track from Classic Marine.
Thanks for your help Keith. (and Rupert & Garry).

Re: Goose neck wanted
Thanks Keith, That won't fit the other goose neck you've got then. It looks like I'm going to need about 2 ft + of track and some slides on the sail to link up from the mast slot to where the goose neck will go. Not sure what the mast was on but probably a hog stepped Enterprise and now to be a deck...
