Re: Traveller.

Do you all mean leverage?, if you have not changed any blocks, the mechanical advantage as not changed, only the ability of the person to pull by being in a more convenient situation, it is probably easier to pull upwards than downwards from a sitting position. Rob.

Re: Traveller.

Hi Max, I have just realised what will happen if I literally just turned Kicker upside down, the Kicker block would follow boom sideways and be miles out of reach, I think this is what Rupert meant, I would have to use a similar arrangement to Mainsheet and run end of Kicker through a Fairlead into ...

Re: Traveller.

Hi Rupert, Their is nothing simple with jobs on anything, House, Car or Boat, last night I spent 3 hours putting a 6mm nut on Rudder Bracket bolt, the nut went on almost through and then stopped, a slight increase in pressure and the captive bolt turned, I then could get nut on or off, I had to brea...

Re: Traveller.

Hi Nigel, The centre main bracket is stuck on with Sikaflex and 6 Peel pop rivets, these open up behind into 4 arms approx 15 mm, the vertical face of Dagger board housing is about 8 mm thick, (cavity behind), the 2 Stainless Steel self tappers in top go into about 20 mm thick fibreglass I imagine w...

Re: Traveller.

Hi all, I also have a Block fitted to top of Deck for Rudder fitting, this sticks up about 50mm, there are pictures on www.photobucket.com/aquabatdinghy Guest password aquabatrefurb, the double block needs to pass over this, if it causes problems I may have to move Fairleads on to Deck and slightly ...

Re: Traveller.

Hi Nigel, I have a double block for Traveller, one is small for smaller diameter rope ( Traveller/Horse ) and a larger one, the main sheet comes down from boom and then back up and over another block and along boom, I think it is identical to Laser, and this is basically what I aimed for, will the H...

Traveller.

Hi, I would like some advice regarding position of Fairleads for Traveller, on my Aquabat dinghy the Fairleads are on Transom about a third in from sides, their are 2 cleats in Cockpit to fix to, I have noticed their is usually only one, and Fairleads are normally on top of Deck at sides, the boat w...

Re: Excitement in a skol moth!

HI Nessa, I have not joined there yet, Max sails there, it is Bartley Green Reservoir, in Birmingaham , it is where all the water from Elan Valley collects, it is 120 acres in area, I have been learning in a pool of a couple of acres, so it is like an inland sea to me. Rob.

Re: Excitement in a skol moth!

Max, When you went backwards into the water I thought your Hiking strap had broken, did the Mast breaking cause the violent swerve. Rob.

Re: Excitement in a skol moth!

Hi Max and Nigel, unfortunately I was to cold to Video anything, I can only say I admire any one keen enough to sail in that wind, the Bar was best place to be, Max, was that you that was inverted for ages by Dam, Club and facilities great, and Reservoir a lot bigger than I expected. Rob.

Re: Excitement in a skol moth!

Hi Max, I watched it happen, I was sitting on bench next to control building, I did not realise one of the casualties was you, the RS 400 Skipper did not seem to want to come in he was sailing around for ages, I have never seen so many capsizes in a race. Rob.

Re: "Cunningham" any benefits.

Hi, Thanks everyone for info, I have a better understanding now of how Cunningham works, I will leave downhaul in place as back up in case Cunningham ever fails, it should not fowl, all adjustments will then be handled by Cunningham. Thanks again Rob.

Re: "Cunningham" any benefits.

Hi Rupert, I hope to get to March training session, it is easier to see, than to read, and things will hopefully come clearer, I assume from reading your post that Cunningham has more effect on Battened sail than simple sail. Rob.

Re: "Cunningham" any benefits.

Hi Jimc, I have not yet worked out a "simple" method of keeping mast in, if you run tail of Cunningham through Fairlead at base of Mast and across to a Jamming Cleat, I suppose it would hold mast in, but would put a lot of strain on Fairlead, I do not know how well Fairlead is fixed to Dec...
