Re: Old Proctor mast 'rivets'

Early "pop" rivets apparently left none of the mandrel in place after setting, if this article from August 1942 is to be believed... https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=XicDAAAAMBAJ&pg=PA95&dq=popular+science+cannon&hl=en&ei=iWS1TPuiHtKynAenh4Vr&sa=X&oi=book_result&...

Itom dinghy

Has anyone ever heard of them? There's one for sale on Facebook at the moment, and I like the look of it... Laser sized but with a deeper hull for added comfort... low aspect ratio rig to reduce hiking.. Must be quite modern as it has carbon spars... But google turns up nothing about it at all... Th...

Re: Avon River Rally - Long Distance 'Picnic' Race

It was a splendid day out... thanks to all the organisers...

The tack back up wind was hard work, especially towards the end when the wind picked up a bit and I was overpowered without a crew.

I put the welder away less than an hour ago, and have just loaded the Scow onto my newly built (but unfinished) double stacker!

Just a few minor jobs to do like make the lighting board fit the pintles... talk about last minute!

Re: Avon River Rally - Long Distance 'Picnic' Race

With northerly winds forecast, the return leg might be a long old slog!

I'm planning on coming with my "lost class" Flipper Scow... for its first outing!

Re: Small, cheap, single handed dinghy.

Most roof racks seem to be certified to 50kg... I bought an inflatable set which strap through the door apertures and fold up nice and small.. they're rated to 80kg so easily cope with a Minisail... should be fine for a Laser too... They're easily searchable on ebay...

Re: Small, cheap, single handed dinghy.

Yes! What Rupert said!!!

Minisprints can go for quite a lot, but original Minisails can go for as much as £4.20!
