Gary thats a good suggestion more than 2d worth. Certainly its the freeze-thaw cycle that does the damage (as does lots of sunlight). But I think one should be carefull to alow air circulation inside the hull (tank covers off etc) otherwise damp build up thru condensation. Do you only cover the top?...

Certainly some old boats do need two buckets. The Pegasus is also somewhat under-bouyant when swammped - the transom flaps not big enough to shoot the water out the back, and with the rear deck almost awash every wave brought in more than the one bucket could shift out! Most new boats are a thought ...

I'm going to have the same problem, we now have 6 boats to store! At least one of them (the old plastic Fireball) will stay at the club and I hope be used all winter. The topper probably the same. The mirror goes into my Father's garage roof. Surprising how much room up there. Canoe Pegasus and Oppi...

There was some sort of Oppie open there last weekend too. I note that inside the spit there is no waves.. but 1/2 the time no water either.

A good place to sail - does Calshot SC have a visitor's membership?

Merlin 1775 is in need of some work, and having a new Job and a few to many other boats, she needs to part company with us. Some Hog Rot and lower transom. Not extensive (yet) but bad enough to qualify as in need of restoration, 1775 is in many ways sound, with a new deck, and most planking is fine....

Rupert might remember I used to sail a flat woodie phantom (I'm a bit better built for the class than he is!) No 14 wonder where she is now? Last seen in Bristol. Certainly more or less a different class from the current FRP/Carbon boats. Bit like chalk and cheese actualy! I would support the old Ph...

me too - on a beach in Wales.

Also just noticed the title of this thread answered my question - senior moment there (I'm older than all of my boats). Sadly June 18th is not possible for us nehow.

What is the tideway race though?

Shakespear helps! (Not the one who used to make nice powerboats in Tewkesbury, but the other one). For Example "Whats in a name! A rose by any other name smells as sweet.." and; "Lazy-E or not Lazy-E, there is the question! Weather tis nobler to Lark arround in Enterprises, or to Ente...
