Are any Classic Finns looking to do the Nationals at Christchurch - 6th, 7th and 8th May?

Finn Training
Is anyone else coming to the Finn training at Warsash this weekend?
Forecast looks ideal - lightish winds from SSE with a little cloud cover to take the glare off while concentrating on not using the rudder but using the mainsheet and hull to steer, windward heel, fore/aft trim, etc, etc

Re: Roadford Event 1-3 May
Unfortunately as the Principal Contractor is behind building our shiny new stands at work, my holiday has been rescinded for this event so the Finn won't be making an emotional home-coming at this stage.
Happy??..... Not exactly.....

Re: Gone wooden
As the man says, I've only gone and joined the Finn Fleet - No brain? No Pain! Sail Finn!! So excited about getting back on the water properly again after what seems like forever. Just need to get fit now...... I spent a lovely day tinkering yesterday with Robert sat in the cockpit explaining how it...

Re: Roadford 10th Anniversary Event. August Bank Holiday Weekend
James, be great to see you again. Please could you remember to bring the plastic boat trophy with you. Eeek! It's somewhere safe. Hopefully. I know the duck and the base were temporarily separated - I have a small boy who was very excited that the duck glowed in the dark. I'll have a dig and...

Seriously, that's a great result! I'm looking forward to this even more than I was before.

Re: Roadford 10th Anniversary Event. August Bank Holiday Weekend
Ohh. Don't think I've come accross 233. We had 238 as our first FD - quickly changed up when I started pulling it apart quicker than we could fix it  Alan - do I need to pick the boat up from somewhere or how do you want the logistics to work? I'll try and send a PM with my phone number so we ...

Re: Camping at Roadford
Guys I've just booked us in - we've been put in 'the other field'. Hopefully this is right - we're arriving on Friday so probably before most. With what feels like the biggest tent in the world when you have two little people running/crawling around, it'd be a nightmare to move - can someone confirm...

Re: Roadford 10th Anniversary Event. August Bank Holiday Weekend
Perfect - borrowing the 'Boat of God'. No pressure then.
No worries taking a look at 350 - happy to go for a splash after racing if it helps. Which other FD is muttering about coming?

Re: Roadford 10th Anniversary Event. August Bank Holiday Weekend
Sounds like we have a plan - 10 Finns sounds like good sport! I've only sailed one once so me thinks it could be a steep learning curve!!!! My weight is currently 107kg - I don't know if that has a bearing on which boat you guys are willing to lend me. Two Dutchmen is almost an open meeting..... In ...

Re: Roadford 10th Anniversary Event. August Bank Holiday Weekend
Hi Brooksey
I might need to borrow a Finn if there's one available - not sure I can shoehorn myself into the OK again!! Otherwise I'd be happy to run about in the front of 350 if you don't mind adding considerable weight and my fading memory of how the genny works....

Guys, I'm not sure if this will be of interest but attached is an article that I was asked to write for the FD Newsletter. It does presume a certain amount of knowledge but it hopefully isn't too far out there. It also makes specific references to people etc and I'm afraid I can be bothered to edit ...

Re: Flying Dutchman
Your shroud rollers are way too small - they need to be 30cm to 40cm long and free floating. Plastic cable duct is perfect - can't remember the diameter we used but it's not the thinest. This will help stop the genny ragging itself on the shrouds in breeze and make rolltacks easier in the lighter st...

Re: Flying Dutchman
Brooksey, it may have had two chutes (running and reaching kites) - the hatches are in about the right place and that would be modern technology for that era. Chris, it'd be worth getting to Rutland for the Midland Championships (25/26 October) if you can - if not to sail, the AGM and a great meal o...

Re: Netlley Nationals
Another belated thanks to all involved. Great event and lovely people. It's really nice to do an event which reminds you why we do the sport we do - having done the International circuit and focused hard on training / weight / sail development for specific events and venues, its really nice to just ...
