Re: moth cover

Nessa, S. Robb in St.Ives makes bespoke covers. Quite a few members at Hunts have his covers. Canvas or PVC. Phone 01480 462150.

Re: Insurance again

Interesting Garry. Have used Bluefin for a number of years and very little change. This year quote for M/R 235 & 2701 (both £500 each) was £98.

Beware of "newer" sails. The characteristics of wooden & alluminium masts differ and a sail cut for a bendy aluminium mast will not set well on a stiff wood one.

Re: Rusty sails

I was the person who gave the info. to Nessa. I have used dilute oxalic acid on a number of sails (all Dacron). Depending on the intensity of the stain repeat applications may be required. Wash area with clean water after treatment. Only on one sail there was still slight staining.

Re: Fancy your own Planet?

I remember this boat well. It was designed by Eric Willis who had a boat building business near Kingston bridge. I remember him bringing the prototype to Hampton SC for members to try - must have been very late 50's. I did not get a go. I have never seen another since that day.
