Re: Beachcomber and Aquabat
Hi Rupert, the Leech is exactly 18 feet 2 inches, sail is original so probably stretched a bit, but it appears their is not much in it, they probably copied Minisail due to its success, this was probably last throw of the dice for Aquabat/Beachcomber dynasty. Rob.

Re: Beachcomber and Aquabat
Hi Rupert, my terminology is a bit off again, I mean foot of sail not leach. Rob.

Re: Beachcomber and Aquabat
Hi Rupert, have received quote from Jeckels who made original sail, say they have spec in their records and will supply correct sail with number and symbol for £385.97 plus vat (but not in yellow?), I have also received reply from RJ sails, he did not think sail was same size as Minisail wanted conf...

Re: Beachcomber and Aquabat
Hi Rupert, I have e-mailed Jeckels who made sail on now, I have also e-mailed Minisail sail maker, I have suggested he looks at picture of my sail on cvdra database and that the sail dimensions are same as Minisails, what are mods you have ordered, are they kosher, I may order special sail perhaps w...

Re: Beachcomber and Aquabat
Hi Rupert, I put dimensions of sail and length of mast and boom on Minisail.org, I think they are identical. I was hoping to get in touch with Minisail sail maker with a view to getting one made, do the Aquabat sails have to be Yellow? Rob.

Re: Beachcomber and Aquabat
Hi Rupert & Nigel, I have not got a new sail, I think this one is stretched and it has been patched at clew end, the boom is not very good and the rudder is not original, all excuses. I hope to come to Whitefriars and allow a decent sailor to beat your boats (only joking). I have had a good few ...

Re: Beachcomber and Aquabat
Hi Nigel, I was just playing. I have no idea what makes 1 boat go faster than another, and it would take a better sailor than me to make a fair comparison, I have seen Ruperts racing results in his Minisail, very impressive, I can only apologise in advance if Rupert is offended. Rob.

Re: Beachcomber and Aquabat
Hi Nigel and Rupert, thanks for advice regarding Dinghy data base, Rupert I noticed sentence regarding real life, I would not have thought 2 boats of same size, same weight, same sail size would be very different in speed, in fact I suspect Aquabat would probably be faster due to narrower bows and n...

Re: Beachcomber and Aquabat
Hi Rupert, thanks for info. I would like to add, I do not expect members to send books or magazines etc, I would prefer any items scanned, I am hoping to put info on the website I am building. Thanks again Rob.

Beachcomber and Aquabat
Hi everybody, I would like to ask if anyone has old magazines with either adverts or reports for Beachcomber or Aquabat Dinghies, I would like to collect a database of information in one "place" of any info formal or informal regarding the above mentioned Dinghies or derivatives, have they...

Re: boat id clarification
Hi Max and Pat, unfortunately I know absolutely nothing about Dinghies, I am a member of Minisail.org thinking I had a Minisail, very nice bunch of people, I have only sailed a total of 4 mornings about 16 hours total, I have not sailed the Aquabat yet, the refurb could be a voyage to the bottom of ...

Re: boat id clarification
HI Max, I have had a look at website, I like the look of the place, I am still in process of refurb ( probably a month minimum to finish ), I will ride over and have a look round. Thanks Rob.

Re: boat id clarification
HI I have converted centremain in way you have suggested, and appears to work well, I was concerned it might foul Dagger board but it is ok, the Boom is filled with some sort of plastic from end to end and possibly could have held a true centremain, I did it Laser style because I already had most of...

Re: boat id clarification
Hi Nigel, thanks for prompt reply, I am currently in the process of converting to centremain, I am also in process of removing rudder block from bottom of hull and transferring to after deck, the last owner added another block of wood on top of existing block and fitted a "Steetspar" rudde...
