Re: Enterprise Rennovation_2

Moores boats had their c/b cases bedded on strange black mastic when new. I believe this was called Seckomastic or somthing similar and was nothing like the modern stuff. The main problem was that it dried out and caused the case to leak. Removing the case is not the epic it may appear. The whole th...

Re: Enterprise Measurements

Quite right. As from 1978 all boats at INTERNATIONAL events had to measure to the current rules but older boats including the "slenderprise" could continue to race at national level. The "slenderprise" , as stated was not that much faster than the standard model in fact in big wi...

Re: Enterprise Measurements

There were a few oddly shaped enterprises about in the late 60/ early 70 numbers in the mid 13000, 14000 15000 range. Not all builders did this . Poacher is absolutely correct in what he says about sections 2-4. In their day they were quick but also in their day they were new with all the best gear ...

Re: Enterprise rennovation

If Avacraft boats were the Rolls Royce of Enterprises then the Moores boat was certainly the Bentley . You just never see a badly built one. I have renovated a few Moores in my time some my own some for other people. To take your points in order. Bits of wood under decks. If you look closely you mig...

Re: Hounds fitting, Enterprise mast

Enterprises were allowed diamonds pre metal masts and I believe you could still fit them if you were daft enough. Quite a few people tried them in the early/mid sixties but the failure rate of masts was massive. Your additional copper tube thing will almost certainly be a fixing piece. Hounds on woo...

Re: Enterprise advice

If the floor needs replacing throughout its entire length it is a bit of an epic. The twist in the forward section is quite brutal and there is a changeover joint, butt to lap, about 30 inches back on the chine. If, however, forward of the 8 foot mark is ok then the job is straight forward.. Careful...

Re: Oulton Week 2010

Both the national crew and ourselves kept times on the race in question and we were both sure Sally and I had done enough. We were credited with 3rd place on corrected time BEHIND a merlin that finished a leg and a half behind us on the water. Nothing to do with sailwave (Usually inaccurate in my ex...

Re: Oulton Week 2010

I was the Albacore from Lincoln and, yes, I was dissapointed with the turnout. Reading through the pages of this thread on the forum and allowing for a bit of hyperbole I expected 20+ in the vintage fleet and we got nothing like that. I do not see that was any fault of Oulton SC just a lot of people...

Re: wood albacore wanted

No that is a Mirror 14 and quite an early one at that judging by the decking ply. There cant be that many left. The standard of the timber in the early ones had to be seen to be believed and of course they were glass taped with polyester resin which will be breaking up by now. Quite a nice little bo...

Re: wood albacore wanted

Got one!! Keen students of "ebay" will even know how much I paid for it. As soon as the Solo is finished I can make a start. Thanks to all those who took the trouble to respond and thanks even more to those with sensible suggestions.
Sam
PS I am still on tenterhooks re the barn.

Re: wood albacore wanted

This is all very refreshing and will probably prevent me loosing sleep re the barn in Somerset. Its good to know that the commodere can lean on people. Perhaps we should all sign up to facebook and go to "Farmville" Where barns dont seem to be an issue or maybe I could have a virtual Albac...
