Re: Roadford Nationals important

Well.... finished putting the Hit back together yesterday and enlisted some assistance to put the Megabyte on the top deck of the trailer. Planning to travel down the M5 Friday morning post rush hour so see you all then. Nessa - I am probably more skilled at dog sitting than sailing but happy to hel...

Re: Corsa 16?

Those toe strap supports look home made to me so may be a bit of customisation by the owner (each one looks to be slightly different) - can't see any manufacturer doing anything other than shock cord to keep the toe straps up. Possibly the oddest fittings are the traveller cleats. Not seen anything ...

Re: Repainting Fibreglass? ToY 76

I stumbled across the end of a car programme on TV last night. They were restoring a fibregass bodied Corvette and the gave it a very thin skim coat of carbon fibre body filler - apparently, it stops it crazing.

Anyone tried that on a boat?

Re: Megamoth

From my perspective, I would really want to understand how practical it was in an everyday sailing environment before spending the hard earned on one. I would like to see how the foils are raised and lowered on the go - picked up a hint of a control line to raise them but cannot be sure. Also what t...

Beware old tyres - they have a limited lifespan regardless of wear and many on boat trailers are still being used well past that. There is a date letter on them that indicates when they should be scrapped

I was chatting with Terry Cook at Aadvark about this a few years ago and he swears by painting a carbon mast white - blocks UV and reflects heat.

Re: Holt Builders Plate

Probably, nearly all the cost will be in the set up so maybe £45 for one, £46 for two ........

Opportunity for pooling demand?

Kathryn is clearly wise.....I however may need an intervention

Can't help thinking it looks a bit Viking and would benefit from a dragon's head on the prow

Sailaways Anonymous

Hi all,

I am finding myself strangely attracted to this:

Is this a particularly bad idea? Should I resist?

Re: Merlin PYs...

not that I make a habit of this but....

I did walk into a crowded Spanish restaurant a few years ago, look up at the imposing portrait of Christopher Columbus and remark "ooh look! Sir Francis Drake"

 .....and walnut shells. this forum is a friendly one but I think PYs are often at the root of the most contentious discussions at a sailing club. I always walk away as soon as they are raised as logic is usually the first casualty. My view (for what it is worth) is that it is impossible to hav...
