Re: Xmas Advent Calendar- Guess the Boat

Whoa, hope we've got the Saturdays right. Last Saturday the Wagtail and Buzz were in the drive, the Buzz on its way to race the Corinthian series and the Wagtail en route to its winter lodgings in my barn. The previous Saturday the mystery boat was in the drive, waiting for the Wagtail to vacate the...

Re: Xmas Advent Calendar- Guess the Boat

Day 8:
To measure her greatest overall length, you would measure from the bow to the stern but you would measure past her transom. Disregard any rudder paraphenalia or fixings.

Re: Xmas Advent Calendar- Guess the Boat

Alan Williams, I'm surprised at you! When have I ever had boring boats? We won't mention the ten year Enterprise fixation, but since then I've had: Rondar Moth, Scorpion, Cherub, two Torpoint Mosquito one designs (18ft una rig trapezing single handed catamaran very similar to a Unicorn), the Merlin,...

Re: Xmas Advent Calendar- Guess the Boat

Apologies for the black flag, I know it sends a shiver through the racers amongst us. Its only significance was to obscure the chartlet still stuck in the boat. Sorry Nessa, Rupert et al!

Day 6:
I'm clueless today, you'll have to make do with a picture:

Re: Xmas Advent Calendar- Guess the Boat

I'm getting a few pm's from people concerned that they may have the answer but don't want to give it away. Feel free to guess away on the open forum. If anyone gets it right I may pm them if they are absolutely confident and have the answer. However, it's my intention to keep everyone guessing until...

Day 5:
Strange but true. The maximum beam is positioned 10ft aft of the bow.

Re: Xmas Advent Calendar- Guess the Boat

4th day:
As it's a Sunday I thought we'd have a pic of some nice wood.
Clue
When I was new, I was so light I had to have 1 Kg of lead added to make me legal. A year later this was removed, and seven further kg's too.

Re: Xmas Advent Calendar- Guess the Boat

Sorry for obscure camera angles Rupert, I believe there's not a boat on the planet you lot couldn't identify with 24 good photos!

Day three:
I wonder if Uffa believed in evolution? Or Jack or Ian for that matter.

Xmas Advent Calendar- Guess the Boat

Mrs Merlin 3241 has acquired a new boat. I thought it would be fun to post a new teaser pic and a clue each day by way of an advent calendar. Need to know class/designer and as she's quite historic in her way, bonus points for her sail number and why she's historic. Starter clue: She is historic but...

resizing jpegs

I'm trying to upload some new photo's of a mystery boat but my file sizes are all too large. Can anyone PM me with how to reduce the size so I can post them? Thanks in anticipation.

Re: Veneer repair to deck

Assuming I don't make a hash of it and choose a good colour match I think the sapele is so stripey that it shouldn't show too badly. The veneer of ply is never one piece but machine joined so you don't notice it anyway. On this deck the wood immediately adjacent each split is so discoloured I imagin...

Veneer repair to deck

We've just acquired another project, sadly too new to be considered as CVRDA legible but certainly of historic interest and worth saving. She is fairly recent (1995) and hopefully we've caught her in time to halt some decline that she's starting to show. I'll keep you guessing what she is for a whil...
