Re: Handicap tweaks
Can we all calm down. Either keep on topic or go and post to Sailing Anarchy. For the final time, there is no East/South split. Take your personal beefs with each other away from the forum. If you truely want to contribute to the CVRDA then get involved with this thread http://cvrda.org/community/vi...

Re: Bough Beech - June 19th
Prolube and a sliding seat is a right of passage. In the days when a number of us were sailing ICs I used prolube on the carriage to make the seat slide a bit better, but over cooked it somewhat and sprayed it on the seat - resulting in me sliding off the end. One occasion the boat crossed the finis...

Re: Iconic dinghies
Can we keep this thread on topic. Can I remind posters that the CVRDA is a broad church, please respect others opinions and do not shout as this will earn you a visit to the naughty step. Now....back to Iconic dinghies. To me, there is no greater icon than the IC. I remember spending my formative ye...

Re: holes in hulls
I always use fine wire wool with Nitromoors - the important thing is that you use fine, then you can go against the grain and scoop out the tricky stuff. Start slow though and be careful. It's very messy, but cheap packs of wire wool from the DIY sheds, Wilkinsons etc seem to work fine. I'm afraid I...
Re: Trophies
of course this is a bit academic as the CVRDA only awards prizes to boats (as these are more important than the individual) with the exception of the Wing Nut prize for something really stupid or unintentionally funny I suppose we could put a ginger merkin on the Wing Nut (would this make it a ginge...

Re: Boatbuilders
As this is in the Banter section I have no problems in drifting off with this one... I was indeed involved in with the PlaneSail Trimaran when the company moved to Plymouth, I started off working there over one summer working on the Planesail tooling, and ended up taking a year out to work in the de...

Re: Boatbuilders
Started with Landamores many years ago, but got bored of bolting Oysters together for £1/hour (was a long time ago though). Like Rupert I ended up in Falmouth to get an education, but had a few bonuses such as working with Ralph Bird for a while (lots of evenings learning Cornish gig building), raci...

Re: holes in hulls
Rather than an epoxy bodge (remind me to avoid Norfolk boatyards  ) It might be worth having a look at this thread. http://cvrda.org/community/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=1970&p=15988&hilit=veneer+repair#p15988 There are a few of us who have done similar repairs, it can be fiddly but the ...
