Michael... the gooseneck moves up and down only.... the mast rotates, but at the same angle as the boom... no over-rotation is possible...

I've seen pics of Scows fitted with diamond stays and forward angled spreaders to stop mast flex, but mine doesn't have those.... I guess I'll have to sail it to see if mast bend is a problem...

Clever in theory... a few too many sharp edges and corners for my liking....

My Flipper Scow appears to have no gel coat.... I've been sanding paint off the bottom... I'm pretty sure it's paint from the way it flakes off... But underneath I seem to be straight into the polyester resin, with no intervening hard shiny gelcoat layer...

The hull has been painted on at least one occasion over the last 35 years or so... It looks horrible, and is oddly bumpy... Continuing the theme from Minisails, I've just bought a Flipper Scow! I know it's not strictly CVRDA fodder, but an interesting boat nevertheless... Looks like it will be a fairly easy resto job... it's all there apart from the rudder stock and tiller....I've found a good pic on the internet of that...
