Re: Crew Wanted
I could float this amongst the more experienced youngsters at West Wilts. I've already bagged one to be my crew on the Saturday.

Re: merlin rocket free for a good home
Wasn't there a Rocket test range up there (the whoosh, whizz, bang variety?) D I think you are thinking of the Hebrides. My brother was in the artillery and was posted to Benbecula as the Range Major's Driver. Which sounded a great posting. [naval historian hat]The Orkneys are the location of the R...

Had a great day there on Saturday and met most of he crowd.
I want to see the "foiling Oppy" in action. What sort sort of handicap would the committee give that? Increase the PY number for the extra drag?

I'm hoping to get there for at least one day. If I get around to doing all the odd jobs on her I'll bring the Grad and might even get around to setting the spreaders correctly

Re: Dinghy database photo
On looking at other photos on Henley's site I find that Eric is not 812, but 2818. I thought it strange that the shadow seen through the sail is "28" it mt be the way the sail is curved it hides the first digit.

Re: Dinghy database photo
I am pretty sure that is Henley Sailing Club on the Thames. Possibly taken during the 2009 National 12 Open. My daughter was crewing for Rosie White on Eric , with the sail no that looks like 812, though I am sure that is not the hull number.

Re: Holt event at Wraysbury, July
A friend of mine in the North East was a Miracle sailor and still has a few contacts, so I took the liberty of sending him the details of the Wraysbury event in the hope that he could pass them on.roger wrote: Anyone any contacts in the Miracles?

Re: What does everyone else do with their sails?
Rule one. When buying a new house specify a double garage but tell the estate agent you're not worried how big the bouse is. This confuses them no end. Then Finn masts and Enterprise masts fit diagonally and you can (just) get all 6 in. Make a rack for the 6booms and use the garage loft for 9 sets ...

Re: Introductions
Hi , I'm Martin, and tend to lurk around the fringes of the CVRDA (and the forums) rather than being a regular. I live in West Wiltshire and am yet another member of Shearwater, which is where I first found out about the Association. Having learnt to sail in Optimists with the Scouts I started saili...

Re: I like the look of this.... ?
Look at this: http://www.nauticexpo.com/prod/cna-cantiere-nautico/single-handed-sailing-dinghies-30189-198737.html Is there a resemblence? To me the X14 looks like an updated version of the Sol.o. The builder and length are correct. As I am local, and looking for a single-hander, I might get in touc...

Re: today's sail
We had the best sail this year, but could only do the first race.Second race, as we were leaving looked even more exciting... two albacores over at the same time on the first lap! Shearwater can give you a good time but you do have to keep on your toes. Yes, the second race was decided by survival ...
