Re: Olympic Monotype

There was one at Hampton SC circa. 1960 - named "Voe". Lovely varnished hull but do not think the rig was original.

Re: bronze or stainless dee shackles..alternatives?

A quick PS - stainless is very strong and you can buy shackles with captive pins!

Re: bronze or stainless dee shackles..alternatives?

I think you will find the shackles are brass not bronze - most older dinghy fittings were brass - shackles, bottle screws, piston hanks, etc. These days stainless steel is the preferred metal and is generally more readily available.

Re: N12 Planet - Plugging the leaks and an external repaint

Definitely do not use "sticky black goo" or siicone sealer. Ensure planks well up to ribs (may need to renew some copper nails). Epoxy is fine along lands- gouge out and run in Wests (or equivalent) and then some thickened epoxy.

Rigging screws

I need 4 rigging (bottle) screws - the small type as used to tension piano wire on diamonds or jumpers. Would be grateful to hear from anybody who has some surplus to their requirements.

Many thanks,

Re: Cheap Merlin...?

The boat is a Morrison designed Phantom Kipper - basically a widened September Girl - by addition of extra "kipper plank". I have owned & sailed one of these. The design was successful in the 70's but lost out to the Gregory designed Ghost Rider. Should still be competitive at club lev...

Re: Restoration of the Year

Gently gets my vote. However she seems out of place amongst the other keel boats. Feel there should have been a Dinghy category.
