The repair work has commenced on the Phantom and I hope to be in a position to glue my first piece of ply in place within the next couple of days. To glue the long scarf joint I will use epoxy, but I am unsure about what to do with the edge that meets the hog. Previously being a stitch & glue bo...

Rupert, thanks for the advice. I had thought about doing a butt joint with backing piece but had decided against it. Assuming I can get the boat fixed, then I want to add a small false floor over the area that takes the helms traffic so as to spread the load accross the hull. This will obviously add...

Unfortunately I own a surform and a rasp so I guess I've no excuses and ought to have a go myself, it's the only way I'm going to find out how difficult or easy scarphing realy is. The good news is it's paint both sides so any filler won't show. I'll try doing one side first and if I make a complete...

Hi All, I was planning on coming along to to spectate at the Baltic Wharf event, but was also toying with the idea of bringing my boat. However I am a little retiscent as I would only consider myself a novice\improver and would be unlikely to be able to sail to the same standard as most of the other...

No problem Neil, if I can get along to Baltic Wharf I'll bring them with me, theres no obligation if there not what you want when you see them. The company has loads of other screws listed on ebay, just do a search on 'Job Lot Woodscrews' but it's all big quantities and stuff not suitable for marine...

Hi All,
I'm on the look out for a Phantom with a conventional hull design (not a self drainer) so this would mainly be boats in the 20yrs plus age range. If anyone knows of such a boat for sale I would be pleased to hear.
Cheers

Ed, took 917 for it's first spin yesterday and can confirm that there isn't much room under the boom. It is slightly better than my previous OK and the open cockpit does give you plenty of room in which to perform the gymnastics. I also found the curvature of the false floor difficult to cope with n...
