Solution found, please close

In the end, I bought another set of the vernier adjusters and they will link to the original set - so effectively making a double length. This will give plenty of adjustment and still look pretty neat.

Shroud/stay adjusters - pair of

Hello I'm currently using a pair of Holt vernier-type adjusters. These are a bit too short - the maximum eye to eye measurement being 9cm. Does anyone have a set of this type of adjuster which is longer (maximum measurement in the range 11-14 cm) or maybe some screw-type adjusters which will cater f...

Approach to bailer sealing

Here's the situation: My boat has two Andersen Super Mini bailers. They are a type that are installed from within the boat. Currently there is leaking and I can see that the wood is a little squashy (but not bad at all) around where the bailers are fitted. I'm not sure if I can get the bailers out a...

Removing silicone sealant

Next week I will be starting work on the wooden hull of my new boat. One question I have relates to how best to remove cured silicone sealant which has been put in place to cover some screw holes. Having done some investigation, it is clear that the sealant has stuck with some force and can't be scr...

Merlin Rocket Adur 3 design - Shoestring - update

Hello What do we know about this design of MR? Pat has pointed me in the direction of some generic Adur info but I can't find anything about the Adur 3. Looks like there were some issues with the 6, that that 7 is a well-regarded inland boat but the 3 has less coverage. I did read an article by Ian ...

Merlins

I know of four Merlins at Tamesis which are looking for new homes but aren't formally for sale. A Smokers Satisfaction which was a super boat but hasn't received much love for the last couple of years. A Proctor XVI which needs a cosmetic tidy but is essentially sound and complete. What may be a Pro...

Re: In search of International 14 618 'Zephyr' and also 'Tie

Thanks for the feedback. My grandfather was quite a character and relatively well-known on the Thames both in the sailing and rowing communities. Apparently Zephyr was one of the early moulded ply 14s and so a bit weighty, an issue that he tried to offset by buying the latest kit as great cost much ...

Re: In search of International 14 618 'Zephyr' and also 'Tie

Yes, I saw that from 2012. It's encouraging and when we visit UTSC for the vintage Merlin Open in September we hope to see her. I'll be sailing that event with my mother who raced at UT in the 50's and 60's in 14s both as a helm and crew.

In search of International 14 618 'Zephyr' and also 'Tiercel

Hello I am looking for any information about my grandfather's (David Harries) International 14 which was sail number 618 and called Zephyr. She was sailed at Upper Thames and was apparently last seen on the Norfolk coast 10 or 20 years ago. That's all I have to go on but would be interested to hear ...
