Hallo Stu I agree with Ed that it is probably a firefly. It would not be a national 12 as their rules insist on clinker built at that time. It could possibly be some unspecified dinghy that was 12ft long. Your question about collectibility is hard to answer. Perhaps desirable is a better word anyway...

Not a CVRDA event as such but there is a vintage int 14 event as usual at Rickmansworth SC on 11,12 May. We have always enjoyed this event and any CVRDA types with a 14 will be made to feel very welcome.

It sounds as if the auction had some high hopes of what people are prepared to pay for old dinghies, whatever their pedigree. The ‘value’ always comes down to ‘whatever someone is prepared to pay’ in reality. Or to be more precise in an auction it is determined by whatever the second bidder decides ...

I think only a couple of things didn’t sell. The fourteen went for 550 I think.

If the galvanised nails are now rusting I would think there is nothing you can realistically do about that since you cannot get to them to remove them.
